Grace Report post Posted October 6, 2010 If you are not happy having your DD's Annual Review at the current school, do you have the right to ask for an indpendent/impartial venue? Is there anything in the COP?x
Kathryn Report post Posted October 6, 2010 I think this is the only reference to it in the COP: Para 9:28 The review meeting will normally take place in the child’s school and should be chaired by the head teacher or the teacher to whom responsibility for the school-based elements of the review has been delegated. Further advice on annual reviews is included in the SEN Toolkit. which suggests it doesn't have to be in the school. In practice though, as the school are responsible for convening the meeting and several school staff might be expected to attend e.g. teacher, LSA, senco, Head, school secretary (to take minutes), it is obviously more convenient to have it in the school. Staff usually have to arrange cover so they can attend, and I suppose it might be difficult to build in extra time to allow travel to and from another venue.
