JeanneA Report post Posted July 23, 2012 (edited) I have yet to discuss this with my son's social worker but intend to when she comes round in September. As I do not know what Glen is entitled to once his education ends next July 2013. Being in a care home I do not who is responsible to get benefits on Glen's behalf. Glen would not be able to sign for anything, fill in any forms etc and if he is still in Coventry he's in an out of county placement so I do not know how I would be able to do this for him on his behalf living in Essex. I presume Glen will need to pay something towards his keep in the carehome (which ever one that it is) from the summer next year and social services pay the rest have I got this right? If anyone has any advice of this subject I would appreciated it hearing it, thank you. Edited July 23, 2012 by JeanneA
Special_talent123 Report post Posted July 23, 2012 does his care home go up to a certain age? the care home should be able to help him fill out benefit forms if thats how they pay for the scheme, i am unable to fill out myself. Housing benefit, ESA, etc. I couldn't fill it my recent ESA renewal form so someone from autistic society helped me fill it in.
JeanneA Report post Posted July 23, 2012 Hi special talent thanks for your help. I've heard from Glen's social worker today and apparently someone is going to come round to discuss with me about what benefits Glen is entitled to next year once his education ends. trekster Report post Posted August 1, 2012 Well ive just got a confusing letter from the benefits agency saying they have overpaid me. I'm thinking "no you stopped some of my money last June didnt bother to tell me and now are blaming me!' There is more bad news for all of us (thought it was only fair i should help us prepare) it is also confusing. Universal Criedit will replace a number of benefits from October 2013 http://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/universal_credit__an_exploration_and_key_questions-2 there is some confusion over whether those on pre-ESA benefits will go over to UC or go through the ESA system? JeanneA Report post Posted August 1, 2012 Hi trekster, sorry to hear your news, I can't believe that the benefits agency say they've overpaid you. I've never of universal credit but will take a look at your link, when will it ever end, it's all bad news it seems. :-(
