Bulbasaur Report post Posted June 28, 2015 Hi, my son, who has ASD, is looking at two universities, Keele and Chester. I wondered if anybody out there has had first hand experience of support from either of them. It would be really useful if anybody could comment on this who has as it's such a difficult decision, particularly given that he will be living away from home for the first time. Many thanks
trekster Report post Posted June 28, 2015 You could try contacting the local branches of the NAS in those areas and asking them.

Aeolienne Report post Posted July 11, 2015 I would contact the universities' disability support services (here and here) in the first instance. If they're not willing or able to respond to your concerns, let that be a warning sign.
trekster Report post Posted July 11, 2015 What a university says they will do and what actually happens can be different things. Eg "support me getting dsa sorted out" equated to pestering me until i got it done for the 1st year and no reminder to renew for the 2nd or 3rd years. But if they had told me why I have to sort out dsa and by when I would have been able to do it. Rather than concluding I was making myself out to be more disabled than I am. Livelife Report post Posted July 23, 2015 Would it be possible to contact any other disabled students there and ask them what their personal experience of the university have been that would give you some of the answers your seeking.
