Tomar Report post Posted July 21, 2015 Looking through post on many topics, there seems to be far too many of us struggling to get a diagnosis. Is there a petition or pressure group or something like that to advance the cause?
Livelife Report post Posted July 22, 2015 Hello Tomar I haven't heard of any pressure group relevant to what your have posted. It depends on the area you live in I think and the opinion of your GP and how much they consider you need the assessment. This is effected by how much funding they have its not always about need unfortunately. You should keep ringing them if you have a social worker keep asking them or contact your health authority if your having trouble getting the referral even your MP. There isn't anything you can do except keep contacting them it's the only option you have.
Tomar Report post Posted July 28, 2015 I was a bit hasty when I clicked the "post" button. I feel a bit guilty that I got a quick & easy diagnosis, the hardest part was actually getting an appointment with the GP, after that things whizzed along pretty quickly. I would like to do anything I can to help others who are struggling to get things moving.
Livelife Report post Posted July 28, 2015 I don't think you need to feel guilty about receiving the appropriate treatment and diagnosis. It's honourable that your concerned about others in a similar situation and you could write to your MP or local health authority about your concerns and create your own support group if you felt able. Confused Traveller Report post Posted July 28, 2015 It's not necessarily the length of the wait for a diagnosis, although that's bad enough. It's the total lack of communication during the wait. No updates on how much longer it will be, and no one checking how you're doing or if you need any help while you're waiting. Someone chased them up on my behalf weeks ago, but I've heard absolutely nothing. Even if I hadn't had any mental health problems at the beginning of the wait, I'll have some by the time it eventually happens!

That's the same as any service these days it's being slowly decimated so eventually it will not be fit for purpose. They say be reasonable but that means waiting endlessly like you say with no communication on progress.
