Has anybody seen the article by Wynford Dore and his daughter Susie in the Sunday Times Magazine? He has set up these centres where they claim to be able to treat adhd dyslexia and dyspraxia by giving exercise which work on the cerebellum. He claism that it will help those with autism. Has anyone tried it? With what success?

madme, funny you should mention it. I have just had an online invitation by Wynford Dore to a SEN conference next week. There is a website about the Dore programme.

If you want some information on the conference let me know and I'll pm you.

I know ddat has been discussed on the forum before..........a mod may come along and do a link.......I would but I don,t know how too  .I know it can cost a few thousand to do the course with no guaranteed of improvement. It works for some not all.I also know that the doctors and nurses they use are not specialists in this field so any assessments done are not by an ed physch for example.

Suze, I don't know anything about ddat or dore. For some reason I got the email from them today, and looked at their website which seemed interesting. I don't like people who cash in in a big way on people desperate for solutions. I am willing to pay what I can afford for an intervention which has a good chance of working, but I think most genuine professionals would charge the minimum and only if they were pretty sure they could help. I know when my boys went for vision and sound therapy the optometrist would only agree to take them on if he was 75% sure that it would make a difference, any less than that and he would charge a minimum assessment fee and leave it at that.

Thanks for drawing attention to this, I'm going to have a look for the old thread.

I enquired and recieved a video and a lot of info through the post.Since then every 6 months a very nice chap has phoned to enqire wether we are interested in the course. He very kindly offers to come and see you and your child in your own home.I have a friend with a 12yr old son who has adhd, they started ddat in sept she has seen an improvement, but nothing remarkable yet.The chap who phones seems very nice but has no direct knowledge of the conditions he professes to be able to help. When I say no knowledge I mean his background was not in teaching, medicine and he had no family members with any of the conditions they claim to help.He appeared to be a salesman of sorts. It was this approach that put me off.Although this may appear negative , there are plenty who appear on tv who proffess that ddat worked for them.
