hick76 Report post Posted June 24, 2011 Hi, My Daughter is 6 and whe have just embarked on the asd diagnosis journey. When Isabella had her second MMR jab she went into anaphlactic shock and an ambulance had to be called to the health centre. Her asd symptoms have increased over time and we are now at the point were her behaviour is tking over the family. Has anyone else heard of this being a factor. Many thanks Emma xx
bid Report post Posted June 24, 2011 I just wanted to let you know that I really feel for you, as my DD has gone into anaphylactic shock twice and my DS once (they have severe multiple food allergies) and it's a truly terrifying expereince <'> Did the hospital establish what it was about the MMR that caused the anapylaxis? Mumble Report post Posted June 24, 2011 For her to go into anaphylactic shock there must be an ingredient in the MMR (possibly a base ingredient/solvent) that she is allergic to. It would not be the MMR per se that is at fault. Have they investigated what she is allergic to so it can be avoided in future? I've had an anaphylactic reaction to medication and it is frightening, but education and knowledge is key to leading a 'normal' life.
madme Report post Posted August 11, 2011 I suffer withn anaphylaxis as does my son. Mine is nuts and animals hair, more recently bananas and avocadoes, My son -grasses. It is vital that you find out the cause- it may be that they have said its a one off- please however ask for a referral to an allergy specialist. I would also suggest that you join the Allergy Uk. They have a useful helpline. With specific regard to your comment I do not know about the increase in symptoms. I do know someone whose son had a very bad reaction to the MMR. Good luck
