  1. I personally found the best way with my boys was to give them little bits of info at a time and let them get used it. Then wait for questions and this then led to slightly longer discussions. Now they both know they have special needs and they can do most things they want but sometimes with a bit of adult supervision. But neither of them are very far away from me. I think the main thing is not to knock their self esteem but be guided by them. I know each child is different so I hope this will be of some help. <'>
  2. This is only my second time for replying. I have two boys with special needs. My 14 yr old son took his slow acting medication at mid day on Tuesday so was up till midnight and so was I. Couldn't wake him the next the morning so he missed first lesson then proceeded to 'bunk-off' three more lessons as it was too much!!! My 7yr old son managed till 2pm on Weds (1st day back) then I had to go and pick him up. Now he's been excluded for 5 days. But lets not ignore before Christmas when he excluded for most of the last two weeks. So I've had the little darling home really since 12th December. Thanks for the article about unlawful exclusion as I nearly had both boys home before Christmas. But I stood my ground with my older son's school and he stayed at school. Hopefully something will be done now, as we are having an urgent early annual review meeting. And I was hoping for a better New Year, well I suppose it is but in a warped sort of way.
  3. Hiya I'm sorry to ask this question as it has been asked before but I can't find the answer. Can some-one please give me more details on Sunderland University with regards to information on the Gluten and Caisin free diet. Basically I have two boys (7 & 14) who both have ASD, ODD and ADHD in differering degrees to each other. I am finding this very stressful and very tiring and not too sure what to do next, apart from contacting the Autistic Society which I have already done.
