  1. www.indschools.co.uk/search.htm will find special schools but I can't find mainstream schools with special needs provision. Thanks anyway If anyone lives in Berkshire / Surrey and has any recommendations please do PM me. John
  2. Incidently your situation sounds almost exactly like ours - 8 3/4, same diagnosis, private school, small classes, IEP etc. As you see from my other post, I'm now starting to try and work out which secondary school.
  3. Ahhh so in future it will become even more geographically missleading
  4. Thanks For some reason the forum seems to think I'm from the Norfolk Broads but this isn't true - we live in Ascot but we're considering moving if we need to .
  5. I believe that many LEA's have a policy that they their funding to support special needs children goes entirely into State schools and we are 'on our own' in a private school.
  6. First post Our son is on the ASD spectrum - his difficulties are broad but shallow. We are in the fortunate position of (just about) being able to afford private education for our son. The trade off is that a private school tends to offer smaller class sizes, better teacher / pupil ratios but many of them do not have the special needs provision which would be a statutory requirement in state schools. We are now looking for a secondary school and it is incredibly difficult to identify even a shortlist of schools that do have the skills and resources to support him. It basically comes down to speaking to each school to find out. I'd love to be able to find a list of mainstream private secondary schools that are happy to take ASD children. I understand that the rules of the forum do not allow for people to name schools but does anyone know where I might be able to find such a list or have any other suggestions ? Thanks - John
