    Jokes

Hi My son 8yrs has a terrible time getting jokes and he tries hard to make them up, knock knock jokes are just not understod by him! he cant see that its funny, yet he will make up his own jokes that do not make any sense to us, but he thinks they are really funny, we all laugh together, i have tried to get him to understand jokes, he takes them literaly so i feel he dosnt understand them.
  2. Hi My son was dx a few weeks ago too and have the same dilemma as you..i have tried telling him about aspergers but i feel he dosnt understand what i have tried to tell him? Does anyone know of any good books that we can let or children read about aspergers in a language they understand? I want my son to know about his condition. but not sure how to handle it! good luck leesa i hope you get a more helpful reply soon lol
  3. Hi Yes i am on my own too, though sons Dad is very much on the scene to help, by having him 3 times a week.. wonder if i would ever have time to meet anyone else as son needs so much of me! not sure i want to lol.. Its hard work, as only been on own 6 months. in a way not having a partner around 24/7 makes things a little easier at times ( does for me) Hope your daughters assesment goes well and good luck!
  4. Hi My son 8yrs dx AS wears hearing aids, moderate loss and has glue ear..infact we thought most of his problems were at 1st about his hearing, interesting!
  5. Hi My son 8yrs was dx with AS 2 weeks ago, i have now recieved the assesment report and it lists all that is wrong with him! The school will obviously get a copy and the report suggests further action they can take...my main worries are my son is very placid so dosnt get a lot of attention as he seems to be in a world of his own, i understand that hes one of many in the class but it worries me,there are 2 children in his class with AS and the other boy is far more animated and has meltdowns.Teacher and head were suprised of his dx as they thought it was all down to his hearing loss ( wears hearing aids) How can i help him with his school life? i will obviously be seeing the head, but as all of us do, i want whats best for him i need to go forward with this but not sure what to do? what can i do? Thank you
