    Im confused

    I couldn't understand why dd attainment level in writing is now 1c yet a few months ago was a 1a and is recorded in her IEP and the senco even wrote to pead that she was making progress from 1c-1a. I understand now i got the orginal print off from head computer the senco has given false information to the pead in fact it shows dd starting from a 1a and regressing to level 1c in writing which matches her current attainment level of 1c. What should i do with this evidence send it to the pead team.??? And the fact it's even gone onto her IEP. WOW I'M GOING TO GET HER INFANT education records from the other school and if there's even more suprises what next??
  2. No worries just contacted SEN department and no she doesn,t have to be 2.5yrs behind. Supportive parents telling to come to terms with the fact dd will always find it diffcult and even if her attainment level hasn't changed but has made progress thats what counts.
  3. Advice from ACE is for me to apply and inform school today Advice from Supportive Parents is dont, she has to be 2.5yrs behind in Attainment levels and will be refused also that outside agencies are not involved as she is on school action.

  5. I love to know how Parenting courses were labelled for Poor Parenting Skills or Bad Parents. I class hubby and i of parenting problems for having two dd's with SEN the diffculties came from us so it's for me and hubby to stop the cycle repeating or at least a learning curve to help support our dd's and to understand our selves, for what we are. At the end of the day Equality and Diveristy is all about choice, good and bad.

  7. About school records. letter says i can, will and always have given any parent any pupil data we hold, if they ask for it. Is is held securely on my computer and would take 30 seconds to print off. I have done a freedom of Information/Data Protection disclosure with support from the county lawyers to get it done absolutely to the letter of the law. I think the data you request would come under Data Protection in which case we would have to comply within 40 days which would take us into the middle of the summer break. However, as i have said, i am more than happy to give you what you want but you would have to get all the data prior to xxxx joining us from the infant school as we do not hold any of this beyond Yr 2 Sat results. If you wanted to phone to arrange a time to call in i will give you all the data we have then and there.   8. 3yrs ago our Pead and Primary School tried to push me to go on this Webster Stratton Course, i can remember getting advice and heard it wasn't benifical to children on the Autistic Specturm. So i just refused, i'm glad i did . Instead i looked into stratagies to help me understand my dd behavioural needs which helped for us. Understanding their triggers to help with the behavioural side. Mind you my dd was very young so it worked for us, and i still continue now as long as i have struture and explain everything using different aids is helpful to her, time consuming it might be and now i'm looking into the social side more as this is causing a few problems with her communcation and sensory as she touches peers really roughly which to others looks like dd is being naughty just a sensory over load. I'm just a prude, and can remember feeling really angry and upset when they tried to push this on me And for not being negative, it has been benefical for some Parents going on the Webster Stratton Course and if it childs there child then that is what counts most of all Goodluck with your decision
  9. We see the pead every 6 months they said in sept on next app they might film her playskills. The diffculty is she was referred to them at 4yrs old got discharged at 5yrs old but i got another referral to a different one, for a long time the primary school led them to believe nothing was wrong, slt sided with school which was why everyone discharged her. OT sided with me. it wasn't untill last yr when i found out her attainment level and comphersenion level was low that the pead team took notice and referred her back to SLT and told me it was too early to start throwing out labels. let the slt team do their assessments and then i actually got them to commit in writing all her difculties specific learning diffculties regulating/modulating sensory information speech and language delay possible social communication diffculties. they wrote to school senco advising a referral to ed psy but we all recieved these ;Predicated levels which has shown not right so i wrote to pead with evidence last week I have 3 files nearly 4 containing letters upon letters over the yrs to school and professionals diary events, etc... also letters i recieved from them I wrote to pead 3yrs ago when dd was in yr 1 saying i felt school weren't meeting her needs and i felt she wasn't progressing, i learnt then not to be so straight forward i had a bad response from them and later found out they discharged my younger dd as i was just a parnoid woman looking for the worst in my children. Recieved a letter saying everyone was in a agreement that dd didn't need direct intervention and all children have strengths and weakness. n=Now in regards to younger dd who is now 5 she is on SA+ Been under slt for 3yrs and ED psy monitors her IEPS I have to move forward past is the past, but when a mistake happens i'm finding it takes a long time to correct itself to move forward.

I was refused twice in primary school a yr ago when i wrote to them, i think it might of been because i didn't put some legal jargon about data protection act at top of letter which led my suspecisions to apply for Stat Assessment as i felt something was'nt right and they were holding back information Anyway now she is in junior school i need again to get her attainment levels, progress evidence from recption yr - yr 3 as her currant attainemnt levels shows that she isn't progressing and regressing in areas which i'm finding inconsistant and can't really move forward with complaints unless i have the actual truth or facts. I can only reply on one previous report when in yr 2. Again the school wont tell me her acutal attainment level for numeracy, reading, speaking and listening and just put -2c So what is the correct format for a letter to the school? 2 weeks left till end of term, should i wait till September as i think i have to give 2 weeks notice.? Or can i speak directly to the Educational Department ?? Do they have records sent to them?

    Boo Hoo Spoke to parent partnership about attainment levels reassured me that they never come across a child who hasn't moved up attainment levels and that one being writing 1c is lower than yr 2 of 1b is impossible and said check with the teacher most likely a mis-print. So i did today ...... Boo Hoo Yep she is 1c wont give a reason why she is lower than previous yr. this -2c trying to fob me off saying the sats only start from 2c so she had to put -2c, when i asked what attainment level she was for reading, speaking and numeracy i was told oohh, uummm possibly a 1a Same predicated level as yr 2 so she hasn,t progressed for 2yrs and in one area gone back. My gut feeling she isn't a 1a and is lower but the school dont want to print this do they ??? What do i do now. Feels like yea she got an IEP but is anyone actually supporting her and leaving her on her own as none of the IEPs state if she met previous targets.
  12. These will be the two new intervention programmes on dd iep for yr 4. Are the school not telling me something ?? Just trying to find out some info and social speaking programme is tailored for Asperger, pdd and autism unless google is wrong. Anyway, anyone's child done these programmes. Do u.k also do rapid writing programme ??? As dd would benfit from this if the above are any good ta

    Speaking and listening yr 2 = 1c, 1b predicated level 1a at end of yr reading yr 2 same as above Dont know if she achieved 1a but started yr 3 on level 1c -2c i found means below expected level for a child on key stage 1 so i need to find out from teacher where dd is below 2c then i can use your stratagy from above, thanks for that. she completed intervention programme for self esteem now will start social skills for basics of speaking and listening she has had 11 months of catch up in literacy and now will start a rapid reading programme also says she is unable to write a simple sentence unaided and they are working towards dd to to be able to do this on iep has diffculties with spelling and pronouning words and stragies to help with this No point guessing what her progress is i just hope i get the truth.

    Thankyou for your reply, and the time spent to answer my thread also with previous thread. I had parentpartnership on board for 3yrs during my struggle with the primary school refusing to help dd despite advice from outside profressionals, in the nd they said they werent able to do anyhing more to help as we tried so much but the head and senco wouldn,t listen in hte end the profressionals sided with them and blamed me untill i applied for stat asssessment 2 yrs ago which changed there views. She was discharged by slt team when she was 5 as she didn,t have any social communication diffculties and her speech and language diffculties were normal for her age so that has taken 3.5yrs for pead to referral her back. HAD HER NEW IEP TODAY and its detailed on her social communcation diffculties and will start intervention for that in yr4 but the slt team are going to assess her in school they still wont beleive me that dd has pragmatic and segmantic diffculties even though she scored really low and her reading comphersion is at 6yr old. School are very clever at answering or choosing there answers to my questions which is why i dont seem to get anywhere, i know her class peers on level 3/4 my dd is very behind and that she has progressed but not to there expected level.
  16. Despite ieps, intervention programmes from school dd has achieved a level 1c for literacy, maths and science the same level she started yr 3 in september The same level for yr 2. They expected dd to achieve level 1a as i have a letter from senco sent in march that dd was on level 1a but stat results is back to level 1c Some good news on her 3 iep and it is detailed on her social communcation diffculties and will start an intervention programme for this We have no diagnosis been fighting the system for 4yrs under pead team and they have referred her to slt team but cant get referral to ed psy by school. I think that our case is looking postive as i had really negative support from school and out side professionals over the yrs and i wont believe that its my fault anymore.

    Just cant work this out, and im not getting any sense or answers from school. Basically in start of yr 2 dd was level 1c for writing, speaking, reading and at the end of yr 2 progressed to 1a, also for maths and science. In yr 3 started again on level 1c by term 3 progressed to level 1a from teacher asessments Now i had her stat report her writing is back to level 1c reading, speaking is recorded as -2c maths -2c what is -2c ? Reading level is 6yrs 4 months Comprehension level is 6yr 5 months Desipte ieps intervention programmes for a yr dd is the same level from start of yr 2. Any views welcome???? dd is 8.5yrs old
  18. My dd is 8.5yrs and was asked a number of questions by slt today for social communication skills will also be assessed in school setting. She gave good eye contact when slt asked questions her eye contact for answering was poor Slt asked her who her friends were DD answered with all the names from her class also family members Slt then specifically asked her to name 2 and why DD named two, said one of them is kind and helps her calm down when angry and the other shares things, a yr ago dd came home with this info as part of classroom topic. DD told her she was going on hoilday with friends of ours and slt said is this relations and asked to explain the difference she was able to say they were friends but this then lead dd explaining all our family members, names where they live, what they do etc.. Questions dd found diffcult she kept asking me to help but the slt said no you must tell me so dd just said dont know or ignored her. DD was very restless at one point she had her shoe in her hand playing with it. Slt aksed me why i feel she is different to her peers when i said her conversations are repetitve and repeats what she hears even talks openly to strangers The slt was annoyed and asked me to watch what i say infront of dd and said she can,t ask me any more information and how will i feel if dd doesn,t fit the critiea for ASD and what my actions will be forgetting the fact that they discaharged her 2yrs ago as she didn,t have any diffculties with socail skills but this is on her IEP and she scored poor for language but this was because she was tired now i have proof that her reading comphersion is 3.5yrs delayed , dd speech is fast and unclear and sentence formation is jumbled but all she needs is correct role modeling so they have said but nothing has changed since i first got her referred 5yrs ago. I felt that i,m still being blamed today as previously asked if there were problems at home but my hubby thinks that there worried they messed up. THE PEAD TEAM are now supporting us who has made this recent refferal to slt team and even though dd hasn,t had a formal test for asd they feel she has subtle and complex needs and want slt to do another social communcaition profile on dd as this was last done when she was 5yrs old. I was asked on a scale 1-10 what dd anxities were at bedtime i replied above 10 she then asked me what scale i was on in general told her it was low and that i have come to terms with the fact that i have tried my hardest to get correct intervention for dd and it hasn,t happened in 4yrs
  19. Pead has referred dd to SLT which sounds great as dd is now over 8 yrs old, but i"m wary. DD was discharged 2yrs ago she didn't fit the critiea for Speech and language intervention her social skills were fine her area's of diffculty with segmantic/pragmatic was becasue she was tired according to their assessments and her literal interpations was very high which is another area of diffculty but the slt team was,nt bothered. dd has poor reading comperhension which backs up the low score for segmantic/pragmentic she is 3.5 yrs behind One of IEP targets is Social skills which started in September I finalley gained support from pead team and they have said sorry as we been fighting this for 4yrs now. Anyway the Slt are planning to asses her in school i was told she didnt expect to see us in a clinic setting and something must of gone wrong with the appointment booking. I was reminded all the time that i needed to think very carefully about how i was going to discuss dd in front of her and told me to watch what i say............ Is this possible ?? She wanted to know how i felt dd was different to her peers When i answered because her conversations are repetive and repeats what she hears even with strangers I was told off, apparently i should,nt of said strangers in my sentence. ANOTHER ONE was asked on a scale 1-10 is she anxious about going to sleep as she worried about the next day I replied yes she is over 10 but i can,t get her to say what,s wrong and then the slt asked me what my scale was for anxieties, told the truth years ago it was high but i have come terms with what,s happened that i have done my best for her and if i can,t get the correct support then it,s meant to be. MIND YOU I WAS SHAKING i get nervous talking about things always been this way another blame factor i have recieved in the past its all my fault. The slt was very inquestive that she wants to know what my actions will be if they decide that she doesn,t fit critiea for ASD or Doesn,t fit critiea for Langage diorder She kept saying that if i have any questions she wants me to write to her. When dd is assessed in school she will have a multi disaplinery meeting to sort this out and move forward I have forward recent copies from school and pead to this slt pead outlines dd has speech and language delay, diffculty modulating-regualting sensory input, specific learning diffculties, possible social communication diffculties. Evidence from school i have that in beginning of yr 2 dd was assessed as 1c end of yr 2 was 1a Now i have evidence that beginning of yr 3 dd was 1c at present she is 1a CONFUSING i mentioned to the slt she asked if i brought this in but i hadn,t so that also in her mail box. Slowely but surley i,m gaining evidence but my family feel it,s a waste of time they will never listen. I did ask the Slt one question Why has my younger dd been under a slt team for the past 4yrs and recieves direct intervention for identical diffculties she shares with her sister but i can,t get her under a slt team. No answer The pead has told me that dd has complex and subtle needs, as dd has subtle diffculties with language the slt team would find this diffcult to detect and the class teacher wouldn,t pick it up in a class room situation. So is it time now to close the curtains and give up??
  20. i ASKED SCHOOL FOR DD TO BE REFERRED TO ED PSY LAST YR, low and behold they have referred her. DD is in reception yr and she will be observered in 2 weeks also a meeting will take place. Senco informed me saying that they all want to keep a close eye on dd but for now her class teacher, slt are happy with her progress. Dont know what to expect or what i should prepare myself for with the meeting in 2 weeks time

    I recieved a reply from senco today as i asked for an explantion and sent him her previous attainment levels from yr2 as they are the same this yr for him to explain. Its says in his letter Thankyou for your letter, as with all schools we use national curriculum level descriptors to level children's work. i trust this answers your concern
  22. JUST WONDERING REALLY WHAT THE CHANCES ARE AND IF THIS IS COMMON WITH CHILDREN. DD LEFT SCHOOL ATTAINMENT LEVEL 1A IN ALL SUBJECTS AFTER SUMMER HOILDAYS STARTED SCHOOL ON ATTAINMENT LEVEL 1C COULD THIS MEAN SHE FORGOT WHAT SHE LEARN'T ?? I KNOW IF THIS HAPPENED DURING SCHOOL TERMS THEN ONE THOUGHT WOULD BE THAT THEY WERE ABSENT FROM SCHOOL FOR A LONG PERIOD SO WOULD THIS BE THE SAME FOR SUMMER HOILDAYS.
  23. MY DD IS UNDER INVESTIGATION FOR AS/DYSLEXIA/SID SHE IS 8 BUT I THINK IT WILL TAKE MANY MORE YRS YET TO BE DIAGNOSED.
  24. It has been brought to my attention that maybe when dd left yr 2 on level 1a maybe she had forgotten what she had learn't during the summer hoildays and when she started yr 3 she had gone back to level 1c.
  25. Yea i have read about before going up to sub levels so i think your right, i'm just still confused yr 2 started on level 1c annual reivew was level 1a at end of yr in literacy yr 3 started on level 1c present term on level 1a in literacy Even looking at it i still can't work it out.
