    advice please

hi, thanks for the replys, my son is now yr 8, i have picked the brains of a SENCO from another school and she has informed me that i have been constantly fed a load of codswallop, for a very long time, they have plenty of assesments and evidence for a statement and my son should have had everything in place long ago, especially as he was diagnosed at 7 and hes now 13, and she has offered to go with me to the next meeting

    advice please

thanks for the reply, ive called the school, they say the caf form wasnt filled in fully because they have more hoops to jump through before completing it, even though they have been gathering evidence and contacting other agencies for well over a year, they also said its nigh on impossible to get a statement for a yr 7 child thats why they havnt really done much yet, the head is leaving today so no point making a appointment to see him and the senco, so im told is too busy as his case load is overwhelming thats why its taken so long, it seems each time i try to speak to someone they tell me something different, next available date was the 23rd so ive made a appointment for then im going to contact parent partnership and get a rep from them to come to the meeting with me

    advice please

sorry for the garbled post but im angry, i need advise......when my son moved up to big school we were told that his primary school were going to get the ball rolling for a statement, after various meetings over the next 18 mths with the new school we disscussed his IEPs and his behaviour and also his application for a statement, my sons behaviour has deteriorated over this time and he has been suspended on a few occasions, then 4wks ago (after lots of nagging) we finally had a meeting where a caff form was filled out, the teacher admitted that the senco had been too busy this past year to put my son forward so the teacher who wasnt caf trained held the meeting and when we got our copy yesterday it was only half completed, there was no 'next steps' no 'action plan' filled in, so i called our local authority department who deals with statements and she said she has no records of my sons application (and wondered how i got her direct number) i was told at the meeting a statement would be applied for that week as he needs a staement asap, and yet the LA hasnt even heard of my son, so i called the school first thing and only got answer phones, is it wise to go in guns blazing as im furious or shall i leave it till after christmas, any advice anyone can give me for this next meeting would be very greatfully received
  7. jon came home from school yesterday talking about a test he had to take but wouldnt tell me what for, this morning he refused to go to school because of this test, it was then he told me about this test, some muppet at school had told jon to be a good boy for mummy and they would let him play with a certain toy, then casualy added 'consider it a little test' (if your good you get this toy sort of thing), he took this literally and insisted he had to stay home today so he can show me how good he can be, i had to dress him and take him to school, but in the cloakroom he started kicking his bag and running into walls headbutting them, at this point 3 teachers were waching him and one of them was the senco, none of them have witnessd this before. it turns out yesterday he was again, sent to the heads office for solitry confinment, which has obvoiusly had a knock on effect, (again) yet they still wont change thier policy on on to punish bad behaviour, i feel really bad for forcing him to go to school especialy when he thinks hes being really good by doing what he was told, and its just made him more anxious and confused him even more, but i had a interveiw today and couldnt cope with jon home and now i feel selfish
  8. thanks for your replies, i think a letter to the school is warrented, i have no idea who the asd support member is who visits the school, is there such a person
  9. i've only just started my battle with the school, so i can only send you a <'>
  10. hi all, i picked son up from school today only to find that he has once again being sent to the headmasters office for his behaviour, once there he is made to apologise and explain the reasons for his behaviour, (which he cant) then made to sit on the floor, in solitary, outside his office for fifteen minutes of his break time, i explained to sons teacher that this is not the way forward as jon loves to be on his own in the quiet corridor, i was then told that this is a blanket policy for punishment for the whole school, regardless of childs condition, as they have to learn whats right or wrong. on occassion, when hes sent to the head, is (coincidently) the days where he refuses to eat and wets the bed, so he must be getting anxious or confused at what happened in school, so my question is, how can i tackle the schools blanket policy, because its not in the best interests for my son. forgot to say, the head is a muppet so i'm sort of
  11. hi all, just a quick question........... we saw our sons pead to disscuss his 3di form and she aggreed with the original drs diagnosis of aspergers and suggested that she would visit his school (mainstream) and spend some time with him, and advise teachers of how to deal with him, is this usual, or do i have a really really nice dr
  12. thanks for the replies i have tried washing it overnight but he puts it under his pillow with a note saying DONT TOUCH i will try again i like the idea of make your own t shirt, that sounds fun
  13. my son usually changes his clothing at least 3-4 times a day for one reason or another, itchy or hes had them on for more than a hour therefore there dirty however i bought him a new t shirt from the supermarket for 1.50 with the slogan 'my mum rocks' on it, he loves it to the point that he wont part with it, he has worn it for 6 days now and, although it still looks spotless, i need to wash it, any ideas on how to get it off him without a argument, i even tried buying another one but they had sold out, i dont really want to resort to bribery as this would give the wrong message, ive never had this before, is this normal behaviour for a child with asperger's, or is he just being a awkward 7yr old
