  1. I live in Folkestone so i felt it, its hard to explain. All i can say is the house was shaking from side to side, there was a loud roaring sound. I went through a mixture of thoughts during the seconds it lasted. Thought it was an aeroplane landing on the roof, a bomb exploding, my boiler blowing up. I was the only one up, so i went upstairs expecting to see my husband and son under the roof debris. Fortunatley all is seems ok at home, just a few pictures fell off the wall and the tv, dvd sky box etc moved a bit. I have a couple of friends who have been evacuated from their homes and are having to wait for the firebrigade to take down the chimney and a structual engineer to assess the cracks and roof etc. They live in the road that was featured the most on Sky tv.
  2. I got my first DLA payment last week, again before i got my letter, was really nice to see a large payment in my account i didn't expect to see. I have read many reports from parents saying they had been turned down so wasn't holding out much hope. We been awarded lower rate mobilty and middle rate care. We don't have to reapply until 2011 so am really pleased. When does your claim run until ?
  3. I have just recieved my letter to say they have recieved my application. It says if i haven't heard anything within 6wks to give them a call. So maybe you should phone them to see how the claim is going. They said they may need to visit at home to assess, is this normal procedure ?
  4. He does sometimes lick other things but not to that extreme, i do feel for you, does the paint not harm him ?
  5. I think i might try licking him back and see what reaction i get, if not i will try and ignore it but it is difficult as it makes me cringe when he does it.
  6. Thanks Brooke It can be hard when they have had a bad day and you end up phsyically and mentally exhausted.
  7. I used to suffer alot but then started going to the gym, as i work from home during the week and spend alot of my time sitting at pc etc i found that i didnt sleep. Once i started the gym i found that as i was exercising i was more tired in the evening and managed to sleep. I always have a hot bath before going to bed and try to get up at the same time everyday. If i have to long a lie in at wkends on during school hols it messes up my sleep pattern and then i go back to sleepless nights again. When i had sleeping problems i bought herbal slleping pills and lavender spray which goes on your pillow which sometimes helped.
  8. My paed recommended ASPERGERS SYNDROME by Tony Attwood. I did read quite a bit of it and found the information easy to read rather than gargon. It helped me understand things a bot more and made me realise that my son does have asp as i was doubting the paeds assesment Found it in a normal high st book shop.
  9. HI My son is going through a stage of licking people, it is driving me mad, when he wants a cuddle he will start licking me. He also has no idea of his strength, when he cuddles he almost chokes me and hurts us alot. Is this normal asp behaviour or is he just a bit weird ?. Having problems with hubby to, he came along to assesment with me but is still in denial and says he has just got spoilt brat syndrome. When my son does things wrong he just tells him off, where as i now try to explain why he can't do these things rather than just telling him off all the time. I am hoping if i explain it to him he may have more of an idea why he can't do it. How do you all deal with your children when they are doing something wrong ?

  11. I only like snow if it snows properly, we only seem to get a dusting of it here. It's got to be a foot deep and nice and fluffy.
  12. i used to suffer with panic attacks a few yrs ago and went for counselling. There is obviously a reason why he is getting the, which needs to be established before he can take control of them and deal with them. They are very frightning for the person having them and the people watching them. I would def go to the gp. Hope you get a good response from the gp good luck

  16. Thanks everyone you seem like a friendly group. Have a question maybe you can answer. My son complains of aching legs when he is walking which up until now i have dismissed thinking he is lazy and doesn't want to walk. Mentioned it to paed's sidekick on intial assesment but she said he was ok. Didn't mention it to paed when we had final assesment. Is there a link between asp and leg problems.
