Hi everyone.... Hope all of you have had a lovely christmas I have never really looked at the forums for melatonin etc before as thought if my son needed it the doctor would say something to me. He does have problems getting to sleep at night playing with his toys arranging everything in order etc. He gets sent to bed about 9pm now (8yrs old) instead of 8pm. He still doesn't get tired until about 11pm approx sometimes earlier. I have tried reading stories, relaxation music, massage and bath before bed but still he will not get tired. About 10pm few months ago my mother-in-law rang and my son was still awake. I said to him does he want to go out on his bike or play in treasure island with the balls and he said yes. In the morning for school he finds it difficult to wake up and need to shake him. Could anyone advise me about any remedies in a health shop for him to take (nothing that may affect his asthma though). Or do I ask my GP etc about any other medication as not been advised about anything. I'd prefer natural remedies as he has not got it as bad as some of you. He his always on the go in the day jumping on furniture and being is silly self. Any advice please Happy new year to you all Take care Amanda <'> <'> <'>

Hi Billie If it's anything you needed to know off any of the member's just ask away. They have all helped me out alot even if it's just a quick chat. When you fill the forms out make sure you write down the bad days so they will understand what it's like for you. I know the forms are long but try not to let it stress you out. Just been reading a little on this discussion and it sounds interesting. Is this treatment similar to head massage/indian head massage etc? i will read more about it later when i have time. Hi AmyNelson I can understand what you are saying, i dont know what causes ASD. I just gave my experience about what happened with my son. My views on causes is he's been diagnosed and all i can do is help him the best i can. I would like to know the cause but i dont think many Dr's know either, not really only what you can do to help him. Amanda

I had a very quick birth with my son, he became very distressed and was born with forceps i think weighing 5 lbs. He had the cord around his neck 3 times in which that was bad enough. Then they told me he had no opening of his back passsage, i was really emotional right then. This was called imperforated anus, he was then transferred to a specialist hospital for a colostomy. He as undergone 3 ops for the bowels and a reconstruction on his trachae as he would have alot of breathing difficulties. Alot of the hospital admissions as put him behind it has not helped. Not sure what causes ASD but problems at birth being in hospital and having lots of time from school does not help the child. At the end of the day i think he's got it so get on with it other wise you worry to much. Take care Amanda <'> <'>

Iv'e also ordered Alternative treatments for children within the autistic spectrum, let you know how i get on with it. HI ALL Just a quick enquiry, before you got your diagnosis was anyone already in receipt of DLA? I am getting middle rate for care/low rate for mobilty as got medical things i need to do for my son regular. DLA know that he as been having assesments but ive notified them of his diagnosis now. Whether it would make a difference i dont know as i have to fill all the forms out again Im going to try and get a letter from the psychiatrist to send as this may help. Amanda
