    CAN ANYONE HELP?

Hi some of you know our situation from previous threads however Ill briefly describe situation:_12 year old boy had problems for quite some time, finally been dx with aspergers and today 2nd dx adhd.School aware of aspergers,we got turned down for assessment LA and ED psych came into school to give them strategies to support him.Things improved slightly last couple weeks, had a great day fri till last lesson.Had call from science teacher very het up and stressed and very snappy with me telling me he had wrecked her lesson and had walked out.Thinking she wanted to discuss what may have happened, how we were going to deal with it ect I asked her a couple of questions, big mistake she snapped she wasnt interested in why he did it just wanted me to know how atrocious his behaviour had been, she practically slammed the phone down after very curt Goodbye. He has detention arranged for tomorow. He had complained another child was sticking his fingers up and she said she didnt see it and he must have been making it up.This is child who has been one of the ones bullying him emotionally and physically for months.Other children said other child didnt do it.My son is very isolated and rarely anyone will stand up for him, plus this other lad is popular. When he walked out of class teacher grabbed him other children were cat calling and trying to inflame situation.I will agree to detention because he needs to find ways to deal with situations like this without freaking out but her attitude astounded me.I want to write a note tomorow and say Im sorry that situation occured but surely the way to limit a repeat performance is to find the triggers and what if anything inflames the situation,How can I put it across in as plain a way as possible without seeming that Im unsympathetic to her position in dealing with disruptive behaviour?
  2. I have recieved a letter today from our mp saying he will look into this and be in touch shortly

    new facebook group

Hi purple,Fancy seeing you here Thought Id be a bit proactive.
  6. hi I thought some of you may be interested in a new group on face book. Its called SENsible Education and has been set up by mums hoping to do something about sen provision. So any of you who are struggling with sen provision for your children please have a look
  7. Our case went before panel today and guess what we have been turned down for assessment!.Lady phoned to give me some details on what was discussed. He dosent meet the criteria for assessment, because school havent put any support in place at all. Yep! she actually told me that. She said the panel have serious concerns for his emotional welfare. They have serious concerns with the way the school is dealing with him,and the situation, and she is going to visit the school on Friday, and speak to the senco. They were impressed with my parental representations,(12 pages,)but the school could provide no evidence as to what they have done.Dont know what my next move is,waiting to have it all in writing.I cant understand though why my child cannot access the support that a statement would bring because the school and some teachers cant be bothered. She also said his IEP wasnt worth a hoot.Unbelievably innapropriate targets. Well watch this space, the battle has just begun, trouble is I dont feel remotely prepared for any of it! :wallbash: If that wasnt enough,my son overheard his senco telling another teacher "Oh apparently they(meaning autism, outreach and educational psychologist)are going to come in and tell us how to deal with him,I could think of a few ways!" Feel like Im failing him as a mum, when I cant protect him and get him the education he deserves and needs.
  8. Thanx,I was leaning towards this(appealing descision).Anyway the panel meets to decide if they assess tomorow, well today now.Its 2.00am I cannot sleep.
  9. Forgot to add he has no official diagnosis yet.Peaditrician believes he has aspergers and/or adhd,he is also under cahms who disagree with pead.
  10. Hi We applied for a statutory assessment of sen for our 12 year old boy.He has struggled all of his school life, apart from two years at awonderful lower school.Well I sent in 12 pages of parental representations, but it seems obvious that school he is currently in have not done nearly enough in trying to meet his needs.Senco is out of her depth.Because of this I think we will be turned down,so my question is.Is is worth appealing?or waiting another 6 months to give the school time to get act together, and if we do appeal who attends a tribunal?
  11. Sorry must have quoted by mistake.I was just going to say that we are thinking also of going private. But just to query on ed psych how does that work?Do they put in writing that they think child has aspergers and then consultant agree,What if they dont agree?
  12. ive heard of it but have yet to talk to parents who have found it a success i heard its also beneficial for certain behaviours linked to aspergers so if you find anything out let us know.
