Nintendo DS Games

Recommended Posts

Hi there, I know I don't often post here at all, I tend to do much more lurking than anything, but I wondered if I could pick your collective brains please.

We have recently bought our 7 year old son a Nintendo DS for his birthday he has Disney Pixar Cars game, Harvest Moon (which seems to have been taken over completely by me due to the amount of reading involved which is an utter shame because I don't have any fun playing it for a few hours every night - oh no!) And we have Nintendogs and Madagascar on the way too.

I just wondered if any of you have children with a DS and can recommend any games that are very basic and simple and won't involve much reading.

Thank you in advance.

Sam

The new DS Pokemon games arrive in the summer and can be played without much reading and are highly addictive (judging on past entries in the series). The Mario 64 DS version would be fine as would any other Mario game available really. Especially any of the traditional Mario games.

(Will be basically the same game with different Pokemon so hard to know which version would be better.)

As David said - Pokemon games are great and involve very little reading. All Mario games are good, great for link-up or wi-fi and have almost no reading.

Animal crossing (my personal favourite  ), Tamagotchi Corner Shop, Nintendogs are good too with little reading. C has just told me: Spectrobes - similar to pokemon and hardly any reading.

My daughter's fav's are:

Harvest Moon

Animal Crossing

Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney

Brain Training

Kirby

Catz

She is much older (13) but I think some of these are for the younger age.

Take care,

Jb

My NT daughter is 5 and can manage Nintendogs and Catz with very little help from us - they seem fairly straightforward!

Hi Sam

I can sympathise with you, my son is exactly the same, everytime he plays on his ps2 or ds i get mum can you read this mum can you read that it is so frustrating. You let them play on games expecting to be able to get on with stuff at home but you spend your whole time ready the information on games, which doesn't even make any sense.
