Need an expert!

Recommended Posts

We are appealing about DS2's Statement and it's likely we'll end up at tribunal.

His recently amended Statement has totally written out all of his sensory perceptual needs - they're just being brushed under the carpet - and we may well need to find an independent witness, such as an occupational therapist or some other ASD specialist, to assess him. The NHS OT has been largely ignored.

Has anyone any idea of how to find someone suitable? Please PM if you have any specific details, otherwise just an idea of where to look would be helpful.

We also need to find an independent educational psychologist who understands ASD.

Lizzie

Hi Lizzie

Have you looked at the NAS site under summary of Educational psychologists known to specialise in autism.

There are areas they cover etc.

This is the pdf file address hope it comes up ok for you.

www.nas.org.uk/content/1/c6/01/07/81/list%20of%20educational%20psychologists.pdf

NAS helpline may be able to direct you to an occupational therapist. The page about professionals is titled Who can help?Professionals involved in autism.

Mand.

Lizzie I could pm you the name of a private OT we used to use in Manchester and her specialisim is ASD, or she may know someone closer to you.

Elaine

Elaine, We are a bit further south than Manchester, but it may be helpful if she knows of anyone nearer us in Hertfordshire.

Many thanks,

Lizzie
