Frangipani Report post Posted September 29, 2007 (edited) Hi, Don't know whether to laugh or cry, more amused than anything. You may remember me whining - nothing unusual last year when my daughter and her friends and I were leaving a concert last year April 06. Well a little girl was dancing and accidentally put out her foot - I didnt get a hand out it happened so fast I fell down a sloping path onto pebble pathway onto my hip. I got up as the crowd were trying to leave and this was the only path - hobbled to the car in agony. I had a Catscan it didnt detect anything - I complained to the doctor of ongoing pain so he referred me for an MRI. Stingy me balked at the price so used other treatments, that didn't work. My doctor referred me to a Rheumatologist he gave me a cortisone injection in the hip. Didn't hurt anymore than a blood test. He then proceeded to tell me that this should take 24 hours to take effect. Then if that doesn't work he wants to refer me to have a bone scan with a high possibility it is fractured afterall. Well the injection hasn't done a thing to ease the pain so far. and 24 hours is up - getting a bit worried - silly me. I have been putting up with this since April 06 F xx Edited September 29, 2007 by Frangipani

Frangipani Report post Posted September 30, 2007 Well the pain seems much worse today. The problem this morning is the pain travels from the sciatica toward the ball and socket area when I showed him he said that it wasnt the ball and socket as the pain was 2 inches away more in line with knee if you drew a straight line. He injected into soft tissue where he pressed on a more acutely painful impact spot of the fall he said its inflamed. The pain is also localised at the higher part if the hip near my waist and kidneys. I said the pain was over a diverse area yet he only injected the more acute part - so now I am feeling the pain more in all the other places. Does anyone know if this one injection is enough to settle those other areas as well? I have no idea, he has booked me in for two weeks time. Do you think I should wait it out or call back.? I have been putting up with this for so long - because since then both my son and daughters medical problems kept taking priority and then I was too emotionally exhausted to attend to my needs. I did internet shopping for over a year to make life easier. Any input would be greatly appreciated. This is my first ever cortisone injection so not sure what to expect or to do. He said 24 hrs its now 48 hours and now I have a different sort of pain like pulsing - like when you paper cut your finger. ????? anyone here experienced this type of injury - please advise. Silly me, I haven't been able to lie on my right side since the fall in April 06 for more than 20 seconds without the area flaring up. Thankx Love Frang xx <'>
oxgirl Report post Posted September 30, 2007 Oh you poor thing. <'> Have they def. ruled out a fracture, is it soft tissue injury?? I know my father-in-law fell on his shoulder a few years ago and his shoulder troubled him for a long, long time, it just seemed to take ages to get better. It did get better, though, in the end, it just took a long time and now he is fine. It's difficult to rest your hip, though, isn't it, because you still need to walk about. How about using a stick when you're walking to take some of the pressure off your hip and help it to heal more quickly? Good luck and hope you're pain free soon. <'> ~ Mel ~
Frangipani Report post Posted October 2, 2007 Hi, Had two really bad nights since the injection so the specialist has organised referrals for an MRI and a bone scan. Was thinking I'd go join the little old ladies aqua aerobics - certainly won't be running in the city to surf b@gger b@gger b@gger. Wish me luck <'>
