Gordie Report post Posted February 11, 2008 Wow - I'm amazed it's not possible to delete a post that you've written yourself. I would've thought that was pretty basic functionality for forum software to have!

I would've thought that was pretty basic functionality for forum software to have! Hi gordie... posts can be edited/deleted for a time but then become 'embedded'... we've had situations in the past where people for various reasons have gone back and deleted huge chunks of threads, leaving them almost illegible for subsequent readers. Obviously if 'sensitive' information is inadvertantly revealed we can delete that, but for the most part we ask members to use their discretion at the time of posting, because heavy editing after a thread has moved on can totally de-rail a topic for others. L&P BD Okay - I can understand all that, but I have to correct you on your statement that "posts can be edited/deleted for a time" ... yes - they can be edited, but I can't find a way of deleting them! And no doubt Frangipani couldn't either, hence the existence of this thread in the first place! And that really ought to be possible, when it comes to your own posts, if only for a limited time, as you say. You mods may be able to, but as peasants can't!
