CMHT appointment

Recommended Posts

I had my appointment with the CMHT person this morning. There were a lot of questions that were asked and I showed him the list that I printed off from the NAS website. I'd highlighted all the ones that applied to me which was almost all of them. He asked me a lot about university. He said that while he wasn't the person to diagnose as he is just the triage person, he said it was highly likely that I do have AS. He was something like 95% sure and said that was his suspicion pretty much as soon as he met me :lol: He is now going to take my case to his boss and see about getting a referral to an autism specialist. :thumbs:

That's great news. Much better than my CPN took it!

You may need to contact the NAS again, because they might not know who to refer you to, and may use that as an excuse not to refer you to anyone at all. If you can tell them who the nearest person is, they have no excuses :)

Blimey that was quick! I just got the call about the next appointment to see them at the clinic, the triage person is going to sit in on the appointment. Fun. I'm rather nervous about it, not sure how I should prepare for this one. :unsure: It is next Tuesday at 10am.

Wow - brilliant news (you know what I mean :)). It seems they're taking you seriously. I guess you did your preparation for your last appointment - maybe just go through the notes you wrote and see if there are any particular points you were concerned to raise but didn't get round to. And also take along a list of possible people you could be referred to just in case they say they don't know who to pass your case on to.

I had my second CMHT appointment this morning. It went rather well, the person I saw while not the person to give the dx had worked in the specialist ASD unit before. He said that the provisional dx is AS, but to confirm that I need to see the AS specialist. So they are referring me to the AS specialist, the waiting list is 3-6 months, but that is nothing compared to the gender waiting lists. They want me to get in contact with AS groups and organisations, as he has never got it wrong before, all those he gave the provisional dx of AS have been confirmed later by the specialist.

Mine was a little like that - within four months i was dx'd!

And it all started with 'Do you think there is a small chance you could possibly be on the high functioning end of the autistic spectrum' - said to me by my counsellor.

Once i stopped laughing.................... the reply was 'Ya think?!! - h*ll yes!'

:rolleyes::lol:>:D<<'> >:D<<'>
