jools Report post Posted March 22, 2005 my son is 7 and in yr 3. he is diagnosed as dyspraxia and because of this is on the special needs register. i am currently waiting for an appt to see camhs......i suspect aspergers. although he is on the register nothing else seems to be happening. he doesn't have an IEP and i'm forever being told he doesn't concentrate, his handwriting is poor etc etc....but no targets appear to be in place. should he have an IEP? whose decision would it be to do one? why is he on the register if nothing appears to be being done? nellie Report post Posted March 22, 2005 Hi Jools, Special Needs Registers are no longer kept in schools, the Code of Practice no longer mentions them. Your child should be at a SEN stage, School Action or School Action Plus and yes, your child should have an IEP. Have a look at the following links, the first one explains SEN procedure. The second gives you details on how to obtain the Code of Practice. NAS information on SEN procedure, NAS information sheets on Education http://www.asd-forum.org.uk/forum/index.php?showtopic=690 SEN Toolkit & SEN Code of Practice, How SEN should be carried out http://www.asd-forum.org.uk/forum/index.php?showtopic=612 If you have any problems your parent partnership officers should be able to advise you. http://www.parentpartnership.org.uk/imagemap.html#head Any questions just ask.
