Is this the normal process?

Recommended Posts

Now my 4 year old is waiting for occupational therapist, speech therapist, appointment, hearing test and appointment with another community paed at a CDC.

There are days when I think I must be imagining it and others when we are at the park and he is shouting "Go away people" to anyone who comes near the slide, or says " I am in Yoshi's world" to himself. The days when he has his running legs on and that includes suddenly running into the road or in a shop when he sees a bright light he stops dead in a trance. With my daughter I knew she had a problem and I have battled to get her the understanding and support she needs. Its daunting the prospect of doing it all over again especially reading your stories of how some of you have had to battle as well.

Hi wasuup. >:D<<'>

It is a daunting prospect waiting for all of the assessments to be done especially during the holidays when the other bits of everyday family life continue and are busy too.

We went through the list of assessments for Ben three years ago. However we are now expecting to do a 3di [specialist AS assessment] in September. So I am spending the summer wondering too.Karen.

>:D<<'> All I can say is that I understand what you mean when you say about there being days when you must be imagining it - I feel the same way especially after my trip to the childrens centre recently. This my first time through all this and it is hell.

Thank you!

I checked on the NAS website and the next paed which my son is going to see is the one they have named.

I guess it is a case of seeing how he is in school when he starts in September most of all. I will be interested in how he gets on at school when they are teaching letter sounds when he can read out all the names of the dinosaurs in a book. The school he will be going to have a bit of a thing about wanting a diagnosis before they admit that a child needs support, so it will be interesting. Again.

Hope everything works out ok for you guys! >:D<<'>
