transport

Recommended Posts

J was statemented in june this year with no transport on it as we life a 2 min walk from school. This year however he is in a sn school and when i rang cyps they said he couldnt have transport as it wasnt in his statement and he lives less than 3 miles from the school.

We live a 20 min 40 mins a day (1 Mile each way) walk from his school now but my problem is i have 2 other children that go to primary in the other direction as i am soon to be a single parent i am really going to struggle. He doesnt need an escort and taxi company's have quoted me a stupid amount for what is 10 minutes a day in a taxi. Do i have a leg to stand on with cyps if i push for transport. btw my others are 6 and 8 and the 6 year old has to be picked up.

btw he has no road sense so going on his own is not an option

my understanding is the 3 mile rule doesnt apply for sen, have you checked with ipsea.

Id ring your transport team again and ask for an appeal form and keep pushing them, have you spoken to school about this as they maybe able to push for transport as well?

Yes you do have a leg to stand on.

The legal position is that your son shopuld get transport help if he cannot get to school on foot due to his SEN, whether or not you're within the statutory walking distance.

Get hold of your LA transport policy.
