juliebusfreak Report post Posted May 4, 2005 Does anyone out there have any direct experience of xxxxx? I am currently considering utilising the servies of same for a court-ordered assessment of my HFA/AS ds who is being home educated. Schools & LEA failed him, but someone wants to force him back into school.

nellie Report post Posted May 4, 2005 My eldest son (27) was diagnosed by xxxx at 19. My youngest son (24) has been referred and awaiting an appointment. The waiting list, when it's open, is about 1 year to eighteen months. She is a true expert and well respected. I believe you have to be referred through the GP. As well as giving my son a diagnosis she also agreed that his residential placement was appropriate and should continue. This evidence helped us a lot. You could try giving her secretary a ring. juliebusfreak Report post Posted May 4, 2005 Thanks. I need someone with expertise in ASD to assess whether my diagnosed ds is suffering because I Home educate him. Also need a specialist report on the importance of consistency, effects of hypersensitivities on kids and how a crowded open plan school could affect an ASD/AS kid. My ex (who works for Social Services and is also part of a stage two complaint against same) has decided to drag and gag me via the family courts because he got found out manipulating co-workers and illegally accessing our files to terrorise us. Lovely man. So now he is using the HE as a specific issue to try to gag me and simultaneously continue to mentally batter us. Have had xxxx offered as the expert, need to figure if she'e the best person for the job. Thanks all.
Kathryn Report post Posted May 4, 2005 xxxx? Brilliant. She's written an excellent book about facilities for adults on the spectrum and she also took part in the radio 4 autism series. I think she's involved in research into the effectiveness of various treatments; she appears to be sceptical of various alternative therapies and treatments which have not been proven to work. I think you are lucky. I'd like to meet her. She was once, briefly, a colleague of my husband some years ago (he's a clinical psychologist)and he speaks very highly of her too. nellie Report post Posted June 4, 2005 It?s the policy of the forum not to name schools, I think this should extend to professionals. I have therefore removed the name of the professional on this topic.
