Annual Review

Recommended Posts

Had a meeting at the school today about setting new IEP targets. Much the same as last ones, just building on progress made. Striped down to its basic, its:- Follow simple instructions, Joining in at play time, Coping strategies and Hand writing.

That's all fine.

What did come as a surprise is that the school have decided to go for an early review of his statement, after only six month, I think it was referred to as an emergency review. What his teacher want is an increase in the hours he gets. Put simple she says having one to one makes a big difference and she want more of it for him, also looking ahead to secondary school, which is not for a long time yet (He is in year 5), She want to try and get as much in place now as possible as we all feel he is likely to find it really hard coping. Left feeling really positive.

Only black mark is that he is still hitting out at over children out of frustration, usually when not understanding a game or the such like or a game doesn't go the way he wants. But the school (And other kids) seem pretty cool about it, will keep up with the social stories etc.
