Not into christmas

Recommended Posts

Hi, my ds is 6 now and I thought he might be into christmas this year......but he has shown no excitment and has not opened the advent clalenders (even though they have choc in) and is very non plused by the whole thing! He is more interesed that school will be open again soon and wants to count that down!

just wondered if any of your little ones the same?

He is a bright lad but does not cope well with holidays from school and lined all his lego men up today and was explaining to them that it was a Monday but school was closed!

He hates that things not the same and sort of understands its christmas but laughed when I said father christmas would come.. with a response of " some people call him santa but it is not real mum"

I were like that and i am still the same. I think its more of the routine, does his school have set routine, does home have routine. Christmas tends to be the hardest because of the holidays. When i were child i locked myself away in my grandpa's visitors room as they expect u to socialise i couldnt and i still do that and i always wanted to go back to school as i loved it there and it had set routine where there is no routine at home.

Hi I've had this problem forever! My 15 going on 16yr old son Glen is severely autistic doesn't like School but does have to have routine, so even though he prefers being at home in the school hollidays he still keeps on daily about 'big school tomorrow' even though I try to explain that its the holidays now. Yesterday was particularly bad Glen continually repeated his home/school tomorrow all day. I think he just needs constant re-assurance that it is 'home' as apposed to school. I will be so glad when January comes!

We've planned Xmas day to make it less confusing for me morning time mum goes to church with friends, then we go to grans (i have walked when shes left late). 1pm-2pm Xmas dinner, 2-3pm top of the pops, 3pm approx presents and games. i normally bring a game and if things get too much i will go and get a drink or offer to help with something non sociable eg getting others drinks.

NAS has 2 leaflets on Xmas, i hope they are downloadable at this late stage.
