Pinkpig Report post Posted June 1, 2010 Hi all I am here because I have a little boy, age 5, who was diagnosed with Aspergers Syndrome in March this year and my ex husband was diagnosed with Aspergers Syndrome today. Although we are separated we are still friends. We also have another son who is a typically developing 4 year old. I am also a Specialist Occupational Therapist who works with children/adolescents with Autism Spectrum Disorders as part of a Child and Adolescent Mental Health Team. So, ASD is a huge part of my work and now my personal life but I am keen to use my time here to gain support as I am a parent like many of you and whilst I have a great deal of knowledge on the subject, I would welcome support and would wish to give support to other parents :-) I hope that makes sense... Thank you for taking the time to read this :-)
Sammysnake Report post Posted June 2, 2010 Nice to meet you Pinkpig, especially as you have a foot in both camps so to speak. Hopefully you'll be able to give lots of advice once you've settled in as well as learning a lot from the people on here who've had years of experience dealing with daily issues (I'm not one of them I'm afriad, very much a newbie myself!). Rosie M Report post Posted June 2, 2010 Hi there, I'm also new. My 9 yr old son was diagnosed with Aspergers Syndrome last week. It didn't come as a big shock as suspected it for a while and as I work with a 11 yr old who has AS I could identify many similarities between them. Nice to be able to use this forum for advice from the more experienced users.

ivybeake Report post Posted June 6, 2010 Hello all you hundreds of interesting people! I am really thrilled to be joining you all albeit in astrange electronic ethereal type of way. I am new to you but hope to have lots in common being one of the aspergers nation and parent to 3 children with varying shades of asd. I have to say I am finding navigating the site really difficult but will try very hard to conquer it. I love being who I am despite the problems and helping my own children with their growing pains is helping me deal with mine. All the very best to you people dealing with autism in your lives - Love that bunny
