BC44 Report post Posted May 3, 2011 Beechwood College would like to invite parents of young people with autism to this free half-day transition workshop in Reading. Date: Thursday 9th June 2011 Time: 9:30am - 12:30pm with optional 1:1 sessions and lunch from 12:45pm Venue: Henley Suite, The Copthorne Hotel, Pingewood, Reading, RG30 3UN The event is for parents whose son or daughter is approaching transition into further education, or for those who are simply considering their options for further down the line. Including guest-speakers who are experts in their fields, parents will gain essential information and friendly advice on the following: The range of post-16 education options available to young people with autism (delivered by Sue Brooks, Strategic Lead for LDD, Connexions Thames Valley). The rights of young people with autism and how parents can access both funding applications and legal advice (delivered by Mike Charles, Senior Partner of Sinclairslaw). Effective strategies for smooth transition into further education (delivered by Beechwood College's Principal, Darren Jackson). Parents will also have an opportunity to speak to members of our team on a confidential one-to-one basis about any questions or issues that are specific to their own situations relating to transition into education. Tea, coffee and a buffet lunch will be provided and the event is free. As places are limited, bookings must be taken in advance.
