jools Report post Posted June 30, 2005 a specialist teacher is coming to observe my son in class on monday and then talk to the class teacher and senco. i'm nervous about it because the school do not think he has any problems.....they put everything down to immaturity. just hoping someone 'in the know' will see that it isn't! Helen Report post Posted June 30, 2005 Have you been given the opportunity to meet with the specialist teacher? Don't let yourself be isolated in this instance, make yourself known to the specialist teacher asap, so that you can give this person accurate information. oracle Report post Posted June 30, 2005 I would ask for feedback from the specialist teacher and if possible a chance to meet her after she has seen your son. If this is not possible ask for a contact number so that you can chat with her. Carole

jools Report post Posted July 4, 2005 well she observed him for 40 mins then talked to him for about 1/2hr, then talked to the teacher, then i got my say.....lo she was fantastic........the first thing she said was that she could see a little boy with a mixed bag of difficulties.......attention, motor skills, co-ordination, social skills, tics and along side everything he is learning to manipulate difficult situations so has behavioural needs aswell. she said she can't diagnose but can see a mix of things such as asd, adhd, dyspraxia and tourettes she asked if i was happy , and b4 i could answer said that was a silly thing to ask because i probably wasn't.......but i am.....lol i'm very happy that i'm not paranoid and have someone to help me, to help him she is referring him for a speech and language assessment, occupational therapy and wants him put back in the physio gym club. she is getting in touch with the ed physch and a local outreach schools worker. she has mentioned that we may go down the statementing route because he has no help in school and she believes he should have some at last i feel we may get somewhere this time
