What degrees do students with AS take at university level?

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone,

I hope you can help me. I am a support provider in a university. I am involved in a research project and

I would like to find out what courses students with AS gravitate towards.

Please take a few minutes of your time to complete the following questionnaire.

and please send me a message and comment about anything about university life that is important to you.

Thank you so much

Frances

Hi, I was told by our son's paediatrician that Nottingham university's engineering dept is mostly filled with Autistic/Aspergers people/students. Hope this is of some use!!

As an OU student it would be helpful to hear what you are studying and if you are content with what you are studying,, thanks

I did the questionnaire.

I'm studying psychology - but its very hard doing it all by myself - the tutors don't often understand me - I can't get to any tutorials - I hate studying sometimes, its so isolated and difficult without any assistance whatsoever.

It isn't that I can't do the work - its that I can't do all of it without having someone to talk about it with (even through email) I'm sitting here by myself in my home and trying to get a degree and its just so annoying that I can't get involved with the social and tutorial sides of things - and that only 1 in 4 tutors are any good.

Sorry I didn't reply earlier - only just saw your reply

Are you doing this with the OU?

I'm also doing a Psychology degree with the OU and find Facebook groups to be extremely helpful.

Hi Paul,

Yep OU for me too :) I did have a look at one facebook group but nobody was posting there when I looked - this was about a year and a half ago (approx) maybe things have picked up since then? Or I was looking at the wrong group!

How far through are you/how many courses til you get your degree? :)

I have DSA for some things but I don't really understand much about it - my carer is gonna ring this week and see what's what - so annoying having to rely on other people for things that seem like they should be relatively simple. I was due a reassessment but it hasn't happened so far.

Apparently I have ranstad one-to-one allocation for specialist tutoring or something - so I have to find out if that can happen - like a side tutor in study skills sorta thing or something (that's why my carer is ringing to find out about it)

And I did ask someone on here about some software but they haven't got back. Apparently there's software that can read out essays - which would be really helpful cuz then I could listen to how it sounds cuz I don't always see some really stupid mistakes using text alone - but I don't know what the software is called or how to google it (I have tried but I keep getting all sorts of rubbish come back) - so frustrating!!

If anyone knows more about these things I sure wouldn't object to hearing about it!
