Hello there!

Recommended Posts

Hullo!

I've just joined today, my name is Sam but I get called Jenny Leggings or Jeggings a lot!

I got diagnosed this year with AS and ADHD my dyslexia is a pain so pardon any Hedious spelling mistakes and grammar!

Im 30 and live with my husband guinea pigs and other animals - I collect of all things Giant African Land Snails!

I'm studying textiles and illustration and am very obsessive over all things arty and craft orientated if it involves trying to make something with my hands - I am there I can also fix knitting and seeing machines which comes in handy too!!

I love all things embroidery and knit but also free machine embroidery crochet ceramics and sculpture! I Love it all and will try my hand at anything once!

I have a little dog that my husband rescued calls Finn and he is as hyper and as excitable as me!! My animals are a big part of my life!! :)

I find talking to people hard and although I'm in full time work if things go wonky I find day to day stuff difficult to deal with! So I fill up my spare time with crafty hobbies and working towards a qualification in textile art!

I'm looking forward to saying hello to you all and I look forward to meeting some people with similar interests and challenges to mine!!

Many thanks for having a read!

Sam

Hi Sam - nice to meet you! How did you discover Giant African Land Snails?

Hiya Matzoball, thank you for you're warm welcome!

When I was young we had a 'zoo man' come to the school and I got to look after a snail for half an hour and to a 5 year old those things are HUGE

They are fantastic creatures and so peaceful I got to be part of a breeding programme for the tiger snail, it's close to extinction in Africa it gets to roughly 18inches! Not the most traditional of pet but I love my chaps! I have albino as well as standard species!!

^_^

When my lad was a bit younger his 'thing' was snails, particularly aquatic snails. He still has a couple in his tank. He also had an African Land Snail and adored him but he became ill, which really upset him. We have a pond in the garden and when he was younger he would spend every single spare second lying by the pond staring at the snails, he was fascinated by them. He had a couple of apple snails and two trapdoor snails and would sit and watch them for hours. Now he has a spotty and a stripey snail, they've lived for several years.

Welcome by the way!

Would be lovely to have another person to discuss my stitching with. Currently im working on a large zodiac design by bucilla which includes blending (2 different colours in the same stitch), backstitch, beading and gold/pearl thread.
