:) Hi Jill it,s very difficult to say from your post what is the matter with your daughter.Sometimes schools pick up first on problems..this was the case with my son.Your correct...your daughter does need to be observed in the classroom. An eduactional physchologist should do this.I would go to your local library and get a few books on ASD/AS... I did some reading early on and it gave me a clearer picture , also helped to explain certain behaviours. Also get out some books on special needs they,ll explain what help your daughter should have at school.I,d have meeting with the school to see a way forward and also visit your GP they can help for referrals to SALT, pead, and child development clinics.Good luck..

Hi Jill,

my dad has sarcoidosis, he's pretty ill with it just now and on heavy steroids - he gets worse under stress and having a child with different needs to worry about is very stressful.

I agree with Suze - you need to take your worries to the GP and ask for a referral, probably to Child and Adolescent Mental Health services (CAMHS).

They have specialist paediatric consultants who are able to diagnose a whole range of things and can refer your daughter on to specialist services such as Speech and Language Therapy or Occupational Therapy.

Speak to the Senco at your daugter's school about seeing the educational psychologist - this is the person who can best start the ball rolling on sorting out your daughter's particular needs in school.

Make sure you get an appointment to see the EP yourself (sometimes schools 'forget' to invite parents) and take a list of things you want to discuss - any worries or things you think are unusual about her - so you don't get flustered and forget things.

good luck

Zemanski
