jools Report post Posted October 1, 2005 if a child is on the SEN register at SA+ does the school get funding for this and if so where does it come from?
lil_me Report post Posted October 1, 2005 (edited) If a child is on school action plus any extra support must come from the school's budget in our LEA, I think most LEAs are the same on this one. Edited October 1, 2005 by lil_me
Kazzen161 Report post Posted October 1, 2005 In our County, the school gets extra money for most children on SA+, but it is only about 1000, and it does not have to be spent on the specific child - just goes into the school's SEN funding. puffin Report post Posted October 2, 2005 I believe that LEAs get funding for SA+ in part of their general budget. But the funding is not ringfenced - schools are free to use it as they wish and it is not linked to a particular child. If the LEA suggest that they will be able to meet a child's needs using SA+ it is worth asking EXACTLY what help will be provided as it is very variable and sometimes very small. I have heard of someone on SA+ who got extra help for 20 minutes per week.
