KarenT Report post Posted October 23, 2005 Still waiting. It's a year this week since the referral letter was sent off, first saw the psychiatrist in January, tests and assessments ever since then. Had the last assessment (SALT) six weeks ago so it could be any day now... Don't know how I've coped really, just had to get through it. puffin Report post Posted October 23, 2005 The process can be very drawn out and you really just have to take it a day at a time. From a personal viewpoint getting the diagnosis was a bit of an anti-climax - we had suspected it for a long time and it didn't change anything on a day to day basis. We had the first referal to the Educational psychologist attached to M's nursery in 1999 - a full Diagnosis was requested in 2001 and the assessment process took 3 years as there had to be appointments with the pead, paediatric psychologist (these alone took about 30 hours), physio, occupational therapist, and SEN education specialist (she spent 3 days in Ms class ove the course of a term). The final diagnosis was made in October 2004.
