bid Report post Posted December 4, 2005 Hi all, I've been seeing 'ASC' in a few posts. Am I right in thinking this stands for 'Autistic Spectrum Condition'?? I hope this is going to replace 'ASD', because I've always disliked the 'Disorder' bit! Bid
phasmid Report post Posted December 4, 2005 Funnily enough I was wondering the same thing. I have Diabetes (amongst other things) It makes my blood (sugar) boil when it is described as a diesease. It's a condition, not a diesease. Likewise Autism! Zemanski seems to favour this term, perhaps she can enlighten us.

alibaly Report post Posted December 6, 2005 (edited) When we first started down this road ASD was known as the Autistic Continuum. Edited December 6, 2005 by alibaly

nellie Report post Posted December 6, 2005 What do people think of Autism Spectrum rather than Autistic Spectrum?
littlenemo Report post Posted December 18, 2005 (edited) picked this up looking for something else entirely - bit old but still..... ASC = autistic spectrum condition I picked it up from our advisor, she got it from her course I think, I've spotted it a few other places I just prefer not to think of people I know and love as disordered, although Nemo quite likes the idea of being disordered - it means he doesn't have to live with rigidity of order I'm not keen on autism spectrum - nothing to do with meaning, I just can't say it - too many Ss and Ms Zemanski PS - Nemo says it's grammatically wrong and being an AS pedant I don't think I want to argue the point with him Edited December 18, 2005 by littlenemo
