Helen Report post Posted January 9, 2006 LKS, are you referring to Gabbitas? http://www.asd-forum.org.uk/forum/index.ph...ghlite=gabbitas
Helen Report post Posted January 9, 2006 LKS, here is some information from the NAS website on NAS Schools - an introduction : http://www.autism.org.uk/nas/jsp/polopoly.jsp?d=
Kazzen161 Report post Posted January 9, 2006 I've never heard of an LEA giving out the Gabbitas book - it might give us all the wrong ideas! The www.oaasis.co.uk site has a section on finding a SEN school (that has several links to other search engines) + a section on what to look for in a SEN school. elainem Report post Posted January 9, 2006 sorry, I didn't mean to mislead anyone - I wasn't given a book but a list of all independent special schools and all non-maintained schools. Elaine
Kazzen161 Report post Posted January 10, 2006 When I was looking for a school for T 8 years ago, the LEA gave me two lists of independent schools. They by no means included all such schools. Nowadays they don't give them out, but I think you can get a copy from the dfes - they just give out the booklet showing LEA Special schools. I have two files of brochures that I keep, so I can pass on information to other parents - I bet the LEA love me!! Karen
