Blumming school

Recommended Posts

Fed up, fed up with schools, I really do think that T's new school is a vast improvment in where he was before, but still I have similar problems.

First I get told to leave it to the professionals with regard to the 'life skills lessons' aka anger managment, and still haven't been told what they are doing, T not being the most reliable form of communication as was suggested by the teacher. Couldn't make the lesson myself due to work committments.

Second I find out that the handwriting sheets for T from his OT have been pooh poohed by the same teacher, as she told T that everyone gets these and not to bother (aarrrgggghhhh!!!!!)

Thirdly we have had a homework argument today, T doesn't remember what he has to do most of the time, it was meant to be done in school and with the shifts I work its damn near impossible to do at home and he's soooo tired when he gets back from school he can't do it anyway, if we leave it to the weekend it spoils the whole weekend with meltdowns ... so basically I won't do it.

Am calling the SENCO today, this isn't parental involvement or proper communication and me arguing with T about it all just makes matters worse, its these little things that become huge issues, is it me, am I overreacting, I don't know, but my instincts are up and I'm tired of being patronised by teachers.

Sending you a hug >:D<<'> It is really frustrating isnt it. Every year you ask teachers to do the same little things which make your life so much easier, the complain things dont happen and its not until the kids start to react that they realise well maybe you had a point, especially afte the ed psych or some other professional suggests it.

I dont know what the anwser is just my experience is that we have to keep asking the questions.

Maybe if staff realised how many people we actually see Last time I thought about it it was about 70 differnt professionals over the years, they might understand our frustration. I really think if schools are serious about implementing every child matters that they all need some kind of liason /portage type worker for us to help us negotiate all this conflicting verbage.

Ive had nothing but problem over the last few months but touch wood we are going through a good bit at the mo! Head spoke to me today and said how pleased they were with little p and new staff were making good impact( my observation as well).

Before xmas I though little p would have to move schools but thanks to some good advice from you guys the tide has turned.

Good luuck and remeber we all understand!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

HH >:D<<'> >:D<<'> Sounds like you're right the communication from school needs to be better. You've probably seen that homework has driven me to the edge lately. Again despite repeated requests rarely is ds book checked to see if h/w is written down, no sheets handed out no h/w buddy to help ensure its written in book. Zilch. I was told by the specialist teacher for autism that I am not there to enforce the homework issue at home. It ruins our weekend as well and some of it I can see little point in. Hope you get some answers
