uniforms

Recommended Posts

Just a quickie to let you all know, if you or hubby wear uniforms to work and have to wash them at home you can claim tax back - up to 6 years worth.

Just write to the tax office giving them your work details etc. :D

You can also normally claim for tights and one pair of shoes per year on the same form.

Also if you have professional fees to pay you get tax relief on these too.

Some info available on the HMRC site but not a great deal.

http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/employers/ebik/ebik...or-uniforms.htm

Best way is to ring them and ask usually. For example some employers state in their wages they pay staff xx is included as they have to launder own uniforms so in these circumstances the person wouldn't be entitled to claim.

Most forms are printable like this one http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/forms/p87.pdf
