Thanks Tylers Mum, He accepted the explanation I gave him but he is still very worried, I guess I will have to keep reassuring him and hope the fear will not get worse! We normally manage to keep things from bothering him to this degree, he does have the whole germ thing going on - but we normally manage to keep him from obsessing too much about it. Thanks again

Hi My 8 yr old son has a fear of viruses and unfortunetly heard over the radio that the Aids virus kills someone every 12 minutes. Unfortunetly he has been obsessing over it for the last couple of days and it was only when he had a nightmare that caused him to sleepwalk that I found out that he's been waiting for it to kill him too. Have explained that you can only catch it through blood to blood contact (didnt go near the bodily fluids explanation!) and thats why you always have a new needle at the doctors and blood is screened to make sure its not in there - but that unfortunetly Africa is a very poor country and dont manage to screen thier blood so thats where most people are dying from it. Can anyone give me any other ideas to set his mind at ease?

Hello I would like to say a big thank you for all the advice on this website - it helped with my application for dla and good news we have got it!! It seems to be all happening together though as i have just heard from the family fund to say they are going to do a home visit on monday and she asked me to think about some of the things that i would like to apply for - i know they give holiday grants but what else? Kinda feeling a bit guilty as well - im quite happy getting the dla and im feeling just a tad uncomfortable asking for more! So any ideas anyone?

Hi everyone, been a while since i posted - son has had Aspergers for a couple of years and have finally decided to bite the bullet and fill in the form - can anyone help with the questions on communicating with other people it asks how many times a day do they need help to make themselves undserstood by other people and how long does it take each time? He needs nearly constant help understanding so can anyone tell me what to put?

My sons has just recently developed a new obsession - he wants to live to 132 years old! When he asked why some people live longer than others we said that if you look after your body - dont smoke or drink and look after your body with healthy foods this could keep you healthy and live longer. Still cant get him to eat fruit but he will try to eat anything that says healthy eating or healthy heart on it which is really cool as hes stopped saying he would like to go to heaven to visit granny (which was a big fear of ours as we didnt know how far he would take that wish of his as he kept asking how do you get dead!) So we have a very health conscious young lad now!

Hi hatter I am a firm believer in positive reinforcement regarding behaviour - ie charts etc. On crossing the road could you ask him to decide where to cross - letting him know that you are soon going to have to cross and if he holds your hand as your crossing gets a reward. Sorry cant be much help with claiming as I havent got round to doing that yet myself. Hope this helps a little.
