  1. A great number of charities are run by secular non-believers, in fact when I look at an African child dying it's kind of hard not to feel for them. Especially considering the fact that they are not going to heaven. It makes the limited time they have on this earth much more precious. So as a secular humanist I don't turn away from it and pretend that it doesn't exist and I don't know of any definitive atheists who would. Besides the bible doesn't stand for freedom, it stands for xenophobia, misogyny, homophobia and much more amoral stuff.
  2. Well I do think it's ridiculous. I'm a skeptic and an atheist. I'm not agnostic. In fact I'm more of an anti-theist. I don't believe in anything until there is evidence that it exists. I'm not on the "fence".. I don't believe in anything without valid evidence. I've seen what religion does to the world. I wouldn't take away a persons freedom to do anything, but I think that the world would be MUCH better off without religion. Besides there comes a point when "faith" becomes silly in the face of opposing overwhelming evidence. (Also sorry if i don't define the labels properly and I should say my intentions are not to offend anyone, it's just one of those subjects that means a lot to me.)
  3. I was in an intensive care unit once, the doctor said it was unlikely that I'd survive, but obviously I did. As a rather skeptical atheist myself I've always been curious as to peoples neurological reactions to religion, so when I came out of hospital I asked my mum if she prayed to "god" when I was in a coma and she stated "not once". Prior to the admission to hospital, she had never really talked about religion. But I think that there was a part of her that believed. I know this wasn't asked, but I personally think that religion is ridiculously amoral not to mention all of the converging scientific evidence that proves that it's a complete fallacy. Besides why would we need a god to tell us the difference between right and wrong? That's just an insult.
  4. Yeah I was sexually abused at a very young age by my peers (at about 8 years old) plus a few more times in my teens I also got physically abused by peers too. I think it's one of the biggest problems with ASD. It's sad because it's really hard to trust anyone, everyone seems to have ulterior motives that aren't so apparent to the average autistic.
  5. Yeah, I'm up for some brain. Some myelinated matter, we could separate it along the sulci and each have a gyrus. Maybe we will gain the brain power of the sacrifice. Have you ever seen the film "Lord Of War"? It's stated on there that some of the people in Sierra Leone eat peoples hearts (raw) to gain their power (I don't know if this is true).
  6. True, his interests include 1) eating healthy and 2) training hard.. Those are rather common prerequisites to a less fatty entity.. You know I'm actually speculating here, does fatty food cause more gas? I don't really know why I think that, perhaps I should cite "stuff" before I post it, instead of being stupidly obtuse. Also you are right on the taboo claims, I guess we would have to be moral?? Well I mean were not animals we are not limited to just the flavour of flesh, I'm pretty sure it would be possible to spice it up. A little bit of chilli, some salt.. Delicious.
  7. Well I'm going to be dead so for health reasons it's rather immaterial. Although.. I don't want to be venting too much gas after death.. So nothing too fatty I guess.. Hmm, maybe a circumcised one. (not to be interpreted as anti-semitic btw) I just "assume" this will contain the least fat. I think in preference it would have to be a leg; as a Vegetarian I haven't had any meat for a while but what I used to enjoy was the legs of chickens lol. What part would you eat?
  8. Hmm, is this the end of the world or just a personal death? Either way I'd be up for trying a little bit of human...
  9. Maybe it's someone you've been "trolling" on another forum, I dunno.... Possibly?
  10. Hmm, I guess I'm confused by your post.. Do you generally mean people who post too much, their opinions or the subjects? No offense intended, I'm just curious..
  11. Gender identity has very little to do with environment (very little as to go as far to say negligible). Most children are gender curious, boys will play with dolls and girls will try to go to the toilet standing up.. But eventually once children become independent adults they start to make their own choices. A great deal of "Male To Female" transitions are men coming from extremely masculine families. It's in them, it's genetic.. If there is anything wrong with society it's not children being lead to the wrong gender e.g. parents buying their son a doll. it's thinking that a young boy playing with "dolls" and dressing up in their "mothers clothes" is a disorder! I too spent most of my life being forced into a female stereotype "pink clothes, long hair and dolls" but there was always something in me that hated it, so when I become old enough to make my own decisions in life, I began to change the clothes that I was wearing and became more outwardly masculine.
  12. There is definitely a correlation between gender identity and autism. I wouldn't class myself as having a gender identity problem in terms of "bi-gender" but I definitely have trouble identifying as a female. I have more masculine traits than female.. But I'm definitely not male either.
  13. Yeah Facebook sucks.. Just make sure you check your car before you turn the ignition.. (and my psych says I'm paranoid)
  14. Ritalin is used for ADHD and narcolepsy.. Predominately inattentive ADHD is much different to hyperactive ADHD. It's symptoms are mainly distraction and inattentiveness (you don't need to be hyperactive) I'm not hyperactive and I take Ritalin. I give this advice because you say that you have difficulty focusing on learning while listening to music.. I too have great difficulty with reading, not because I'm dyslexic, but because I can't filter out different stimulus, I find myself reading the same sentence 40 or 50 times before I even realize.. I know how hard it is to learn without music because of sensory integration problems due to the surrounding environment. I feel for your situation, I'm quite agoraphobic myself so I don't leave my house that much, but I want to beat it. Educationally I'm quite similar to you, although I finished school publicly but I could never focus due to bullying and AS so I finished without any respectable grades. So when I was 16, I was about 7 years behind my peers educationally, which sucked.. But books and Ritalin has helped me to learn while at home. So I really know how hard it is to feel stuck behind walls without intervention. Do you have any help at all from psychiatrists or psychologists?
  15. Maybe you could try a stimulant like Ritalin. If you ask your psychiatrist I'm sure they will be able to relay a message onto your GP to put you on a trial. That's the only advice I can think of..
