Depression, Mental Health and Crisis Support 06/04/2017

Depression, Mental Health and Crisis Support Depression and other mental health difficulties are common amongst people on the autistic spectrum and their carers. People who are affected by general mental health difficulties are encouraged to receive and share information, support and advice with other forum members, though it is important to point out that this exchange of information is generally based on personal experience and opinions, and is not a substitute for professional medical help. There is a list of sources of mental health support here: Mental Health Resources link People may experience a more serious crisis with their mental health and need urgent medical assistance and advice. However well intentioned, this is not an area of support that the forum can or should be attempting to offer and we would urge members who are feeling at risk of self-harm or suicide to contact either their own GP/health centre, or if out of hours contact NHS Direct on 0845 4647 or to call emergency services 999. We want to reassure members that they have our full support in offering and seeking advice and information on general mental health issues. Members asking for information in order to help a person in their care are seeking to empower both themselves and those they represent, and we would naturally welcome any such dialogue on the forum. However, any posts which are deemed to contain inference of personal intent to self-harm and/or suicide will be removed from the forum and that person will be contacted via the pm system with advice on where to seek appropriate help. In addition to the post being removed, if a forum member is deemed to indicate an immediate risk to themselves, and are unable to be contacted via the pm system, the moderating team will take steps to ensure that person's safety. This may involve breaking previous confidentiality agreements and/or contacting the emergency services on that person's behalf. Sometimes posts referring to self-harm do not indicate an immediate risk, but they may contain material which others find inappropriate or distressing. This type of post will also be removed from the public forum at the moderator's/administrator's discretion, considering the forum user base as a whole. If any member receives a PM indicating an immediate risk and is not in a position (or does not want) to intervene, they should forward the PM to the moderating team, who will deal with the disclosure in accordance with the above guidelines. We trust all members will appreciate the reasoning behind these guidelines, and our intention to urge any member struggling with suicidal feelings to seek and receive approproiate support from trained and experienced professional resources. The forum guidelines have been updated to reflect the above. Regards, The mod/admin team

1. I'm new here and need friends.

Nice to see a younger member on board. (That doesn't sound perverted does it?) Anyway, I'm Ben, message me Anytime you want, i'm always in a chatty mood.
2. Who's into comics?

I think I was the worlds only Dandy fan. I only brought the Dandy, I diddn't like the beano.
3. What makes you smile?

I like chocolate, but it has to be 90% or above in cocoa. I have 99% and 100% in my cuboard. I love anything that tastes bitter, i'm not a fan of sweet things.
4. What makes you smile?

When someone breaks the rules so i can punish them. Makes me feel good inside, when an argument kicks off, so i can lock the topic. In case you can't tell, i love dark, dry and sarcastic humour.

6. New Moderators

I might as well follow suit: Even though i'm not new. My name is Ben, i'm 22, and from the sunshine capital of the Uk, Bognor regis. I'm a fan of many sports, Bodybuilding, Cricket, Golf, Wrestling, all sports basically. I'm currently unemployed though keeping busy! i hope to enter the youth offending service very soon, my CRB check came back ok, and i have completed my induction training. My obsession is learning, and being better than i was yesterday, i can be very hard on myself when things don't go right, and don't take failure very well. I'm also in love with nutritional science, and studying the effects of diet, and hormones and the effect that has with our minds, and our body's. I've determined that a high fat and low carb diet, is the very best diet for the human body, and is ideal for healthy hormone production as well. As you can see, i quickly go off topic, when i'm talking about something i love........... For further infomation, check the link in my signuture........

8. Must the game change?

Moderating would be tight, almost air tight, i think it would be up to the admins to run it (imo) *Edit* By tight i mean hardly any moderation.
9. do i post more often when 'high' -erratic?

Agreed with matzoball. And remember what i said about focusing on ONE goal at a time, rather than juggling 100 things at once.
10. do i post more often when 'high' -erratic?

To all, please keep the above in mind, when replying. Thankyou, Ben.
11. Must the game change?

I did set a forum up, it diddn't work.
12. do i post more often when 'high' -erratic?

Diet plays a massive role in my mood. First of all limit the bad stuff like sugar, wheat, and excessive Carbs. Insure you are eating enough fat. Fat is essential for healthy hormone production, immune system health, and physical recovery. Eat clean and pure fats like cream, Animal fat, egg yolks, coconut oil, and Ghee. Don't worry bout counting the calories, there not the be all and end all. Hormones determine fat loss, and if your not eating enough, your hormone production will be shot, and you will never lose fat then. If your calories are higher than they are now, but your hormones are in check, then your body will be able to function, and then promote fat loss. Supplement with 5g of omega 3, and 1g of vitamin C everyday. Those 2 working togeher are magic! No need go overboard with those, less is more. You should after a month or so begin to feel good, your gym will be much more enjoyable and productive, as you'll have the fuel. In case you are wondering how many calories you need, The 2000 calorie mark should be fine. As i've said, sometimes, a nice long walk to collect your thoughts, is all the excersise you'll ever need.

What you need to do is try and take control. Do you have any unhelpful habits in your daily life that provoke your negative emotions? Also how is your diet? What kind of foods are you eating?
14. BEER ?

LOL to be honest I ditch half the shot when no one is looking. Flowerpots in bars, are a blessing.
15. Must the game change?

Anyone who has followed me since the begging will know, i carry myself with a very sarcastic yet friendly sence of humor. I appear almost obnoxious and childish, yet people loved me for it. However, since deciding to return, and give this place another go, i feel..... dare i say.. very PG. I was very much a Rated 15+ poster, and had an attitude that was often hammerd by the mods, and i had fun being cheeky. Now the latest members don't understand me at all. My humor is being misunderstood, and people are getting upset, and may i say, this isn't any fun for me at all. Yes, perhaps i should use a bit more discretion than used to way back when, but i can't stop being me? Also, add a smiley to your post to vote for an adult sub forum so the true warrior can return!
