I'm Ruth, 26, live in Liverpool but grew up in Norfolk. My Dad's family come from Liverpool and I came up for uni, then never went back! I studied psychology at uni. Before that I did voluntary work with a music and movement therapy charity for children with special needs and their families, which I loved. Whilst at uni I worked at a home-based therapy programme for a child with severe autism. After uni I got a job as a support assistant in a school for children with special needs. Although I often questioned whether I might be on the spectrum, other people always dismissed the idea, and focussed on my diagnoses of anxiety and depression. I also had anorexia whilst at uni. I was medicated with anti-depressants up until November last year and can't believe I'm still off them now! But I feel like another, stronger side to me has come out from behind the meds, and it's let me to seek an assessment / diagnosis for AS, which I finally got recently.

I love animals, especially my rescue ferret, Owen, who is a grumpy old man, but we get on well

I collect old photographic portraits and children's books.

I'm interested in psychology, mental health, being vaguely healthy(ish) - I'm trying to get back into jogging and I like walking.

I probably watch too much TV, but I do love reading too. I play flute and guitar and sing a bit too.
