  1. i think i have confused the chair of governors with this one!! i sent a letter into him last week regarding the exclusions (following advice from a senior education welfare officer) and i have recieved a letter yesterday saying they are gathering information relating to the exclusions and there will be a meeting for all concerned in the new school term. The EWO's advice was to write to the governors and also lodge a complaint to the LEA via the online form as i (and the forum) was correct in thinking it was an illegal exclusion, yes only the head/deputy/or someone acting up in both of their absences can exclude and the fact that homework should be given but it is our responsibility to get that work back to schoool to be marked.
  2. Thanks for those links I am not happy with the school ..... his form teacher has excluded him the last 2 times not the head or the deputy and she and the secretary phone me on the exclusion days. I think the head cant be bothered to talk to me regarding the exclusions as i had a confrontation with her 3 years ago when my oldest son was excluded numerous times and her attitude stank. The last 3 exclusions have been with no letter!!! two of which were for 2.5 days with no work except a reading book nothing this time. sorry about the moan and groan i just wanted to check what was official and what wasnt before i jump down someones throat on monday morning

    Statements

This area seems to be quite good with statements (in my experience but know of others who havent been as lucky) My eldest son had his statement completed within 4 months (that is including the time on IEP's and gathering the 'evidence')... this was increased in Y3 at school to get him to a special school but this actually took longer than the original. The 2nd statement for my 7yr old i was told i wouldnt get due to the fact his behaviour was controlled in what he was doing and the proposed statement is through which has taken 3 months to get.
  4. i have looked and havent seen the answers to these questions or i am going blind to everything 1. am i right in thinking you are supposed to get your letter of exclusion within 24 hours of your child being sent home 2. is it up to the teaching staff to supply work if they are at home for 2.5 days? 3. who is supposed to phone to tell you they are excluded? and when you get there who is supposed to tell you of the decision? sorry but these are questions that have arisen from my sons newest exclusion and the last 2 of them. the head teacher has been no where to be seen when he has come home from school (not that i mind as she is ummmmm sorry no polite word springs to mind). I have had no letter last time and this time and they were both for 2.5 days although this one should be 3 days as i got there before 12 lunch time. He has been given work on one occaision then another he was given a reading book to last the 2 days and he read it in half an hour leaving me to trawl the internet to find worksheets etc for him to do. This time nothing again!! they are failing him i know but i feel i am banging my head against a brick wall with this school (same school his older brother had problems with). Sorry for the moan.
  5. Thought it about time to introduce myself after lurking/nosing on the forum for a couple of hours My name is debbie and i live with my other half and 4 sons (andrew 11, nathan 7 and liam and luke who are 5) andrew (who we havent got a diagnosis for yet) has been seen to have autistic traits but no one will put this onto paper. He was first seen at the age of 3 by the paediatrician and his latest reveiw is next week. He began school life on a statement but was the 'worst' child they had ever had at his first school. Wouldnt sit still, no sense of danger, no eye contact, no social awareness ... on his statement it says he has social emotional and behavioral difficulties grrrrrrrrrrr. we moved him schools and the next one handled him extremely well to the fact he started to show his intellegence but still had his old problems. Juniors was a nightmare exclusion after exclusion and not fullfilling his statemented needs, this was a time when i could have really needed you lot it was so frustrating. anyway to cut a long story short he ended up at a special school for behavioural problems and has now regained his self esteem and in school is only having a few problems. He loves the structure and the fact he is in a class of 7 with 1 teacher and 2 assistants (who wouldnt excell). We are now setting up the process of getting him back to mainstream with the RIGHT support for senior school next year. We have had enough years now with no support, no diagnosis and the cr*p at home... when he is at home it is always a war zone!! His brother N has now decided he wants to go to andrews school due to the fact it is 'better' than his and is trying his hardest to get there. He has managed to secure a statement and a few legal and illegal exclusions in his quest which is more frustrating than before as we know what and why he is doing this. He has also started the no bed time thing (which isnt copied from his brother as we were told because andrew goes to bed he cant be autistic but once in bed andrew sleeps from anything from 2 hours a night to 8). I could fill a whole page but i must keep it short hehe. thanks for all the useful info i have found so far and i am convinced there will be more to be had. This forum is great i am so glad i found it Thanks again Debs x
  6. arghhhhhh why did i not have this info weeks ago we have been through numerous of what i know now illegal exclusions from the infant school and now the junior school are getting up to the same old tricks!! wont be for long though as i am about to start standing my ground on this. Thank you so much for the most useful info i have seen on the subject and not to sound horrible but it is nice to know i am not the only one ... no offence to anyone going through it as it is a horrendous time.
