  1. Just voted. My 7 yr old son dx'd with ASD has no statement & after meeting with teacher this week won't be getting one unless his score dips severely!!!!
  2. I haven't received mine yet either and I'm a 'H'.
  3. Hi My 7 yr old diagnosed ASD son also won't dress himself. He says you do it you r faster!!! He also rubbed his thumb & index finger together & opened & closed his fist as well. I think it was a comfort thing. He's now into sucking his sleeves. Come home soaking wet!! Bye Jinny
  4. Joeboe Rant away. It's nice to know there's support here. Will write later going for school pickup
  5. Hi My 7 yr old son was diagnosed with Aspergers last summer. During the diagnosis my husband was asked about his early yrs & from what he said it appeared he was very like his son. He hasn't been diagnosed & will never go for diagnosis as he thinks it's a load of bull. He says if he & son have it so does at least 25% of population!! I'm reading 'An Aspergers Marriage' by Gisela & Chris Slater-Walker at the moment. Very informative. Life with my husband is very emotionally unfulfilling. It's all one sided - from me. It gets to the point where u don't want to bother. I have been married for 15 yrs with 2 kids - 12 yr old daughter & 7 yr old son. I think if I didn't have them I would have left yrs ago!!! I yearn affection & real companionship. Conversation & the rest. It's not my husband's fault - it's the way God made him but boy is it hard. I don't trust his judgement on important things like money. However he comes across as very secretive & this can make u very suspicious. Many claim that AS men don't stray!! Mine did just after my daughter was born. But the positive side is he is a good father to the kids & can be very kind. Interesrd to hear your description of life!!
  6. I'm in a similar situation as Hedder - only difference being SENCO have done a very basic IEP. I was waiting for the Boards Educ Psychologist to do an assessment. However rec'd t/c from them telling me school have advised them my child is not showing as concerns & coping with work. I'm so angry as Board have told me the only way they will assess him is if the school asks them too. Even though my paediatrician referred my son with ASD to them for an assessment. Can they do this? Have I no right of appeal? I live in N.Ireland.
  7. My son is 6 and 1/2. Diagnosed with ASD last July06. His organisational skills are not great & he constantly comes out of school without something. Lunchbox, coat, sweatshirt etc. I usually have to go back in with him and teacher will say 'what has he forgotten today?' Is it too much to expect a teacher to check he has everything before he comes out? Do you think this is their responsibility . Am I expecing too much from the school? He has an IEP - very basic I must add. Just waiting on Educ Board deciding if they will do assessment.
  8. Hi I'm new to the forum so hi all! Just wanted to know for my 6 1/2 yr old diagnosed Asperger(privately) & ASD(NHS) in July 06. Is it true one of these diagnosis will get more help than the other. We've been referred by NHS consultant for an educaional psychologist assessment to the Education board. His school say he has no obvious problems but have done a very basic IEP. They feel I shouldn't concentrate too much on assesment as it may not change IEP or give any extra help. Don'y wan't to give private diagnostic report if it means he will get less help or influence assessment. What do you guys think from your experience?
