    Hair cuts

Nick used to have his hair cut ok, he has a very good rappour with the barbars, he has to have the same stylist all the time though, this is just about him not wanting his hair cut!!Maybe it is a teenage thing, and nothing to do with his aspergers

    Hair cuts

Nick is 14 and will not get his hair cut, he looks dreadfull it is getting so long now, he does wash it but wont get it cut. He says " people have to accept me for who l am not what l look like" . Does anyone else have this problem as he looks like the wild man of borneo
  6. At the moment l am doing slimming world, its going a bit slow at the moment l stayed the same last week, but l am really trying this week, l need to loose a couple of pounds before my girlie weekend!! My shoes were even tight this morning, not only have l a fat bum, and legs, but fat feet
  7. Oh Hev, dont panic if it was really bad im sure they would want to speak before 6.30, l know how you feel, l was at the dentists last week and my mobile kept vibrating and l knew it was the school, you feel sick untill you know what the problem is. Keep calm and keep us updated, fingers crossed
  8. Nick has just come home and taken his mobile out of his pocket and, yes you guessed!! ITS COVERED IN MELTED CHEWING GUM!!!! I only bought this phone last week because the last one ended up on the bottom of the fishing lake!!! Has anyone any ideas as how you get melted gum off things, l cant put it in the freezer like you would clothing My lovely son is sooo accident prone
  9. well done Flo, brilliant news
  10. You will all recognise me im the one clutching the vino with grey hair and wrinkles
  11. Thanks Js mum, its so nice to share things with people who know just what you are going through, many of my friends say "l dont know how you cope " but l think this forum has a lot to to with it, to be able to share the good and bad times is great It would be lovely if you could come to greenwich, but l know it is a long way for you, maybe you could organise a meet up for those of you in the North?
  12. I got a westie puppie for Nick when he was at his worst about 3 years ago and it was the best thing l ever did He is called Scoobie and he is everything to Nick, when he got really bullied at school he would come home, grab scoobie and go to bed with him, it calmed him down right away. The only thing is he is very obbsessed about him and l do worry if anything happened to him Nick would be distraught as his whole world centres around scoobie!!

    right i need a moan

Oh l so need a moan about my other half, Nick really wants to go on a night fish to a lake in hampshire, rich has said he would take him next weekend ( which fits in nicely as l am going away for the first time for a girlie weekend ) However rich has just found out they only have toilet facilities and no showers!!OMG what hardship!! and now he is refusing to take him, l said you will be fine its only for a night and you can take a few wet wipes!!! Well he has got the right strops cause l am going away to a hotel, and now he wont go fishing!! I HATE MEN Nick is now having a huge meltdown!!!!!!!!!
  18. Thanks kazzen that would be great
  19. Hi Enid, yes our boys are very alike, scary isnt it!! I must admit Nick is much better now that he is coming through puberty, he was at his worse about 18months ago, so maybe this has a lot to do with what you are going through. On the mobile phone front, Nick has broken and lost so many, l now buy one from vodafone as it is very basic and only 20.00, everytime he destroys one l buy another and deduct it from his pocket money, mind you quite a few have gone through the washing machine!!! I also sign up for their friends and family deal, this is where you can have up to 4 mobile nos and each can ring one another for free, this saves putting credit on Nicks phone as it is usually gone before the day is out!! Hope things improve for you soon, us three girls need to get together with a few bottles of vino!! Are you going to greenwich?

    Woo Hoo!!

well done you two!!! It made me smile thinking of you following the coach and lurking around in starbucks cause l would have done exactly the same thing
  21. I have contacted a couple of schools and although they have said l could visit they wont let Nick untill they get the go ahead from the LEA, these are both independant schools. Nick is so determined that he wont sleep away from home it wil be very difficult to get him to look at a school. I had a call from the head of Nicks PRU and he was lovely, he said that Nick is doing well under the circumstances and they are going to do lots of work on social skills and anger management with him, also they are going to work on his tolerence levels. This is an independant school and the levels of staff to children is very good so we are going to give it a go.
  22. I find it really bad that you all seem to have trouble getting direct payments. Two years ago a member of the direct payments team came to our local AS support group and was practally giving the money away!!! He said if we were in reciept of DLA and needed support, contact your local SS and you will get it. A few of us did this and recieved direct payments very easily.Jsmum, you poor thing having your support withdrawn, have you tried complaining in writing to the head of SS in your area? l did this when they tried to withdraw my social worker, and one was given back very quickly!! Or you could complain to your MP, direct payments are for people like us who need support it makes me so mad, why do we have to fight for everything
  23. If there was and award for manupulation Nick wouldd win hands down ever time!! When l say no Nick always wants to discuss things, my heart sinks when he says"sit down and lets talk about it" he will then proceed to go on and on and on about why l should say yes!! this always ends in an argument as l get so stressed out with him. Nick has also managed to manupulate CAMHS!! It is so easy to give in for an easy life and like Hev in the past l have given in far too much, l think in the early days l tried to compensate for Nick not having and friends or not being invited to parties when the rest of the class were, but l am really paying for it now he is a teenager, so be warned all you softies!!!! It is much harder to say no when they are big strong teenagers, but like Hev l am really trying at the moment
  24. Hi Kazzen, I wish Nick could visit some residential schools but most of the ones l have contacted will only let the child visit once the LEA have asked them too. My LEA is one of the worst for funding a residential placement, and when they asked Nick if he would stay away from home he said no and l will run away if you make me!!! The LEA said they wont even consider it if Nick dosent want to go!!! EA
  25. I get direct payments for Nick, we get 6 hours a week, it is great as l can employ family members to take Nick out. Any child who recieves DLA is entitled to this, your social worker should be able to help
