  1. I must admit to a sense of relief at this posting as so many people have said "he cant be autistic...he's too affectionate". They dont see my son throwing his arms around the Tesco delivery man who he's never met before, or hugging other total strangers. its also good to hear some of you saying it does pass as they get older, and to look at it as part of his general immaturity. Finding this site is constantly reassuring me that Autism has many faces and that a child who doesn't fit the accepted pattern is just as much a part of the community as any other....thankyou all.
  2. I'd like the "perfect mother" at school to have my son for a week. She was (wrongly) told one of her children had learning difficulties and is convinced her parenting style "cured" her little girl. Consequently my sons ASD is all down to my style of parenting...simple really She ran an after school club for a while which my son was soooooo keen to go to, but she took me aside one day and asked me to "have a word with him" about his behaviour!!! despite being made very aware of his diagnosis. She just hasnt a clue....My lot don't go to her club now!! And I'd also like some of the parents of children in his class to ask him to birthday parties...just occasionally!
  3. No, honestly! it really happened!!! I nearly drove into the hedge. I suppose he could have heard it told somewhere and repeated it, but he really meant the question.....he doesn't "get" jokes anyway.
  4. I was in the car last week discussing the characters in the Christmas story with my 4. After we'd talked through who everyone was it went quiet for a minute. Then Pete said... "Muuuum"..... "Yes Peter"..... "so who's Gloria then?"
