  1. Haven't been on the site for a while. Stuck in limbo between acknowledgement of AS and diagnosis but readingt he threads here make me smile and cringe all at once. I hate "aah but she is lovely isn't she" Did I ever say she wasn't? My favourite is still the school saying they have no problems. Just to prove them wrong B got level 5's SATS in unexpected places and a 3 in writing! No descrepencies in her abilties there then! On a refreshing note I have been sharing the AS possibility with some people who actually see B at her best and worst and many of them have said it would make a lot of sense!!! and offered me their complete support. Hooray.
  2. Better for his teeth than B's obsession with sweets in bed. being going for about 5 years but got worse recently. She stashes the wrappers under her bed. We think we've got it more under control at the moment (no wrappers hidden in room) and the counsellor agrees it a comfort/control thing which has replaced the trashing of her bedroom. saying that my sister was pretty sure she snaffled some at her house the other day so better do a check tomorrow. trying to replace the need to eat at might with bedtime cuddle for 10 mins. B is nearly 11 so we have told her to come to us when she feels the urge and she seems to understand this. B doesn't have 1 obsession she moves from one to another and then another but when intersted in something becomes very fixated. Jo

Beginning to wonder whether husband isn't just difficult and therefore should say yes to inherited on poll. Just wanted to say how wonderfully welll everyone out there is doing and between us we have such great expertese that we should all get qualified and do our own diagnoses!!!??? Thanks for alll your support so far. <'>

  5. Haven't read all replies but have worked around SALTS and have an undx daughter (AS) and the comments of "the parents seem to have real problems but i can't see any, drive me mad. "she/he has all these autistic behaviours at home but when see them there is nothing wrong"AAARGHHH I have tried to communicate how jekyll and hyde profile and the sublties of AS behaviours can have a profound impact on the children but it often falls on deaf ears Good Luck and keep pushing for a resolution
