  1. Can any one offer any advice. Had a letter back from local LEA today refusing to assess cj for a statement. School have done everything to get cj assessed, but LEA feel that his needs are being meet by his primary school (which in this last school year is true, but it took them from year R to yr 5 to decide that cjs problems were more than him being nasty and naughty) so he doesn't need to be assessed. the whole idea of the statement was to have one in place for this september when he moves to secondary school, so that he wouldn't have the same problems there as he has had at his primary school. the Head in her words is spitting feathers over the decision, but she doesn't feel an appeal will get us any where, apparently our LEA doesn't think Aspergers or adhd warrant statements. So what do we do now? any ideas. are parent partnership worth a try? it took 8 yrs for us to get a dx of AS and ADHD so why am i surprised we are not getting anywhere now. H

    Aspartame

it omay not be the aspartame that causing the problem even though it isn't very ggod for you, ( dietician friend of mine won't touch anything that contains it) most squashes, high juice and the cheaper juice drinks contain sodium benzoate which is a preservative that causes most problems, we've found a certain fruit and barley drink in all flavours doesn' contain the nasties and we don't seem to have the problem as we've had with other drinks!!!!
  3. can't vote. my son watches either the music channels or sky movies he's not really into cartoons, never has been. he also like reality tv shows as well!!!!! (but not big bro, thank goodness.) h x
  4. if anyone has any ideas of cheap things to do in hampshire let me know everything my little darlings have planned costs heaps, even a trip to the local country park gets expensive with 4 kids so cheap alternatives are essential. and if theres any room left in the padded cell please squeeze me in the thought of six glorious weeks of peace, quiet and solitude have me coming over all funny!!!! H x
  5. Hi sparkletastic we often have this problem with our 10yr old son (dx of AS + ADHD) but we tend to turn it round on him and make him feel that the advice given came from him and it was his idea all along! H x

    exclusion

:wallbash:just gonna have a moan more than any thing else! cj was excluded from school yet again today for getting cross and climbing a tree! well he climbed the tree to get away from every one else! excluded for the rest of the week so doesn't go back til after half term. school does every thing they can but other professionals don't seem to want to give us any help in trying to modify cjs behaviour. especially with the adhd side. local adhd clinic has closed there lists so cj can't be access for medication. i don't know what else to do, he's fine at home well most of the time any way but school is a totally different matter can't cope with what goes on most of the time there! if any one has any ideas how i can get professionals to give him some help, i would be very grateful to hear it. even school is permanently trying to get him some help even to the extent that they pay for a sen themselves. they have just got all the files together to go for a statement but i even that takes time he'll be lucky if its in place for secondary school next year.... please forgive the ranting, but had to get it off my chest before i go into melt down
  7. hi all i've just started to exclude certain things from cjs diet before i go down the full blown route of CF/GF diet and i've found that by cutting out all E numbers, artificial flavourings and additives as well as changing to multigrained bread, brown rice etc. he's been on it for 3 weeks now and its had a marked improvement on cj especially with sleeping. got an appointment with dietician in june to get him intolerence tested and look at ways of implementing other exclusion diets if thats what is needed.
  8. we're from do'nut city too, not had any dealings yet with Lea but school finally getting somewhere, for now!!! helen

    Introductions!!

hi i'm cjsmum, i'm a married mum of four (3boys/1girl) our youngest son who's 10 has finally got a dx of AS and ADHD. this has taken nearly 8 years to achieve but hopefully now he will get the help he needs!!!!!!! but i won't hold my breathe. finding this forum has been a great help as i'm going through hell at the mo. i think a dx is only the start of the battle of getting people to accept ASD kid and its not only the professionals!!! i'm sorry got carried away there.
