Hi folks - haven't logged on for a while but thought I would let you know that we have been successful in getting a statement I joined here last June. I pushed and shoved the LEA on a weekly basis throughout the summer holidays and have been fighting for him everyday since then. I got the LEA to put emergency funding in place (only 0.4 but it was something) to go back into mainstream schooling in September and having bored the pants off the LEA have got a 0.6 (60%) statement agreed by panel on Tuesday - this is 16.5hrs/wk and the school SHOULD make up any difference if we request. I don't physically have the statement in my hands and I'm sure that I will be changing it once it arrives in the post in the next few days - but in theory - we have got a success. Having said all that, I won't go into any details at this time, but we are considering a move to a special school. BUT - for the moment I just wanted y'all to know that there is some hope out there. Don't anyone give up.

Hey there haven't logged on for a coupla months - but saw your question and had to say something - You have a child with ASD - and tomorrow when you get up your kid will still have ASD - but it's another day and a fresh start. Trust that you are doing the best you can.

Hi Tracey - I have my sons report from the Clinical Psych in front of me - it is a COGNITIVE ASSESSMENT which took 1.5 hours using the Wechsler Intelligency Scale for Children. Hope this information is of some help - it gave us the confirmation that someone else finally believed that our child does not see the world the same way we did. Let me know if I can help any further. <'>

Hi We have our "big" meeting at school on Monday and obviously one of the main topics will be homework - our son hasn't been at school since before half term I could let you know what views the school have and how they say they are going to implement procedures when our son starts back in September Would this be of help? Good Luck Clarkie

  10. Dropping in on a thread here before I go to bed - I have Rheumatoid Arthritis and Systemic Lupus Erythramatosus (SLE) (RA dx when I was 24 and SLE dx when I was 3 months pregnant with my oldest son) - rare to have both diseases but I don't do anything by half. Please push for blood tests as the simplest of blood tests (ESR) will show if there is infection/inflammation. Both RA and SLE are auto immune diseases and can be dx with blood tests - I have had this for a long time so for once, and it may be just the once, I know what I'm on about (ask me what day it is and I probably couldn't tell you). The only down side to RA blood tests are - you can actually have RA without having a Rheumatoid Factor but with SLE you have to have antiDNA and antiANA antibodies to dx the disease. SLE is fairly rare in boys/men 9:1 ratio - I take weekly immunosuppresants (oral chemo basically) and many painkillers - which work wonders - I know, more drugs - but I don't do pain! Don't let the consultants fob you off - go in armed with as many questions as poss. I have no idea if there is any connection with ASD/Asp and wish I could be of more help in that department but I am a complete novice. The only other possible suggestion would be psoriosis (probably spelt wrong) - that can cause scabs / skin chafing. Do let us know how you get on. Good Luck.
