we have a diagnosis but they still delay

our son is coming up to his thirteeth birthday

we have a diagnosis of aspergers which is also causes ADHD

even with this the LEA are still trying to put my son in another Education other than at school unit for emoitionally vurnabal

which he uses to his total advantage he can stop work any time he wants because the other in the unit do

 

whe we release the report to the educational physcolagist who did his report for statment

she said " oh if it goes to tribuneral i will have to see what i have missed "

she missed a hell of alot loike all his needs

 

we dont have a date forthe LEA to finalise

 

we dont have a sugested school or placement

 

can anyone tell me if i can get legal aid for my son because i feel that mya be the only way the system will listen

Hi Nuttynemo,

 

Have you spoken to IPSEA? Their helpline is busy (keep trying), but the advice they give is excellent and it is free :notworthy: .

 

Just a thought, but have you considered Education Other Than At School (small group learning) for your son? It worked brillantly for my son (AS/ADHD).

It is worth remebering if your child is educated outside school ie college at polst 16 the statement ceases to exist and does not apply to the college!

Scary stuff and worth thinking about when considering post 16 education
