Amanda

You could have a look on the NAS website http://www.autism.org.uk/pubs

This link to the GrayCenter is worth a look.

Dear Amanda

How did you get on with the social stories? Bought the book a couple of months ago and found it really useful but very time consuming to practise all the time. Still using it though to try and explaing things if i cant get something through to M

We've recently had a talk on social stories and you can actuaaly make your own

Example Going to the hairdressers, put a photo of your son/daughter on the first page and go through each step i.e taxi ride, bus or car journey, a photo of the hairdressers some of the things they might see there hairdryer , scissors, shavers and then a final picture of your son once they've had there hair cut or just a visit to look around. Then you can personlise it i.e This is the bus Mummy and billy need to catch to the hairdressers. You can then make a social story about anything i.e toileting, going to bed The list is endless.

There are plenty of books to help you with this on the NAS website

www.nas.org.uk

Sorry that was a bit long winded but you get the gist.
